Best of 2011:

3 January:
The end of an era in Marble Blast history. After closing down operations in November, the InstantAction website is officially taken down. After being without MBOnline for ten months, the news is very sad for the community.

20 January:
TorquePowered finds a new owner in Graham Software Development, and officially changes its name back to GarageGames.

31 January:
GarageGames loses the distribution rights of several of its games, including MBG, to InterActive, Corp. MBG is eventually taken down from other sites also, such as RealArcade. As of the end of 2011, other than Macgamestore, it is impossible to buy MBG anywhere online.

17 March:
One of the best and most respected members of the community, Xelna, announces his official leave from the forums. His leaving is part of a "mass exodus" that occurs around this time on the forums, with Rokoshu, Sonic, and Phil also leaving. Many of these members have returned in some fashion, however (Sonic is posting again as of this post, Rokoshu returned and left again, and Xelna is featured in the third MBG WR rampage).

7 April:
With Phil having left the community a week or two before, Matan announces to the community that production on the Windows version of MBP version 1.20 has been suspended indefinitely. As of the end of 2011, the Windows version of MBP 1.20 has not been released.

15 April:
Marble Blast Ultra is removed from the marketplace after InterActive, Corp. acquires the distribution rights of the game from GarageGames.

16 April:
George releases a mini-mod (in reality a level pack using MBG textures and skies) called, strangely enough, George's MBG Mini-Mod, or GMBGMM.

2 May:
Threefolder releases his mod, Marble Blast Revived. The overall impression of the mod in the community is mixed, but generally positive.

17 June:
Two major events occur on this day: - PlatinumQuest releases its first Feature Spotlight. This one talks about the cannon, its uses, functions, and applications. There are also several in-game pictures shown, as well as a short video showing the cannon in action. - After being banned from the forums for a year and a half, it is decided that BlazerYo should be given another chance to be a part of the community, and is let back in. After some initial resistance from a couple of members, BlazerYo is warmly welcomed back into the fold.

24 June:
With Beack having disappeared after getting caught stealing codes, Randslider declares MBFuture dead and releases the most complete version of it for the community to enjoy. The mod is generally positively received.

12 July:
After being welcomed back a month earlier, BlazerYo is banned again from the forums for harassing Marble Blast Emerald's staff (of which he was a member), and harassing several members by "spoofing" the shoutbox and impersonating them.

13 July:
As an act of revenge for his banning a day earlier, BlazerYo releases a version of MBEmerald onto YouTube (albeit a buggy one) while taunting several forum members in the process. The MBEmerald staff try their best to limit the damage from Blazer's undermining of the mod by imploring people not to download it, and they are mostly successful.

30 July:
Marble Blast Emerald is officially released to the public after almost three years of on-again, off-again work. After a lot of hype and excitement, reception of this mod throughout the community is widely positive. At the same time, the same team begins production of another mod, called MBE2.

10 August:
Jeff releases an incomplete version of Marble Blast Opal, effectively rendering it dead. Reaction to the mod among the community is mixed.

17 October:
PlatinumQuest's second Feature Spotlight is released, this time talking about the new hazard called the Ice Shard. As with the first one, in-game pictures and a short video are included.

19 October:
A new mod, called Project Revolution, is announced by HiGuy and Jeff. The initial plans for the mod are to have single player as normal, but also have working multiplayer. The community becomes intrigued and excited by the prospect of working multiplayer (especially after the death of MBOnline and IA) and encourage Jeff and HiGuy to concentrate on that.

2 December:
After a lively debate among community members started by Technostar, it is decided that Level of the Year will be revived for 2011, and possibly beyond. The rules are modified for 2011 - members can nominate as many levels as they like for the competition, and then a special panel will decide which of these nominations should be in the official running. Then there will be polls made for these levels as before. As of the end of 2011, nominations are still ongoing.

13 December:
As a special treat for the community, Aayrl and the Marble Blast Fubar team start an Advent Calendar leading up to Christmas. For each of those twelve days, MBFubar "extra" levels (which were cut from the game in 2010) are repackaged as MBG custom levels and released to the public in packs of four to six levels. Also, on Christmas Day, these levels are all packaged into one big file, along with two "promo" levels and a marble skin.

24/27/31 December:
The first video (the Beginner levels) in the third MBG World Record rampage is released onto YouTube on the 24th. The intermediate levels are released on the 27th, and the advanced levels are released on the 31st. The rampage, which the community had been excited about for several months, are already being considered among the best Marble Blast videos of all time.
