Great news for everyone.

IT'S OUT! Grab the .zip from the first post!

Oh, and a note: if you want your 0.4 or earlier data to be kept, just put MBPU 0.4's directory into the install script instead of MBG's.

Why does all the cool stuff have to come out while I'm at school with no access to MB?
JK, I can wait until this afternoon, but if you actually found out how to do rotating MPs, I am incredibly impressed.

I can just imagine Whirligig doing an evil mad scientist laugh right now...
They said it couldn't be done. They called me crazy! But now they finally recognize my genius!
Although ever since the PQ (WHERe) teaser showing growing and shrinking platforms, I felt that rotating MPs must be possible.

Ya it does, I was playing with it earlier. There is a delay in it on purpose. You have to literally double tap the space bar, not hold it.

Also I've known for months RP were possible, but I didn't want to say c: (being serious here, not joking)

Now that I've downloaded and played the mod, I can properly say how amazed I am at it. Whirligig, you have done the impossible at least 3 times. When I played Super Marble Galaxy, the level where you push the marbles, and Angular Limbo, I honestly couldn't believe my eyes. Well done!

And I thought my mind had exploded from awesome overload when I saw the 5th PQ spotlight...

Okay:

1) The double jump level doesn't work sometimes; it's a known issue. Jeff, holding down the jump key should put the second jump at the top of the first one automatically.
2) Don't get too excited about rotating platforms. They seem to love glitching up ...

That only applies to Windows, right? I can just use my MarbleBlast folder that I have already instead of the one that was just created, right?

Also, unrelated, I discovered that the $BASH_SOURCE variable was only set in versions 3+ of Bash, and I have version 2. :C (Which was why the variable was empty.) I know I saw a page somewhere that had of nice list of those things, but I can't find them right now.

Yeah, that's for Windows. Although some people have had issues with their Library folders messing up the game and causing it to think they pirated MBG ... The best thing to do when you install MBPU on Mac is to delete that folder except for your prefs.cs and config.cs files. No worries if you didn't; if the game hasn't gone horribly wrong, you're fine.

I tried installing it using the bat provided, and it doesn't want to install.
Directory is:
E:\Marble Blast Powered Up
I put in: E:\Marble Blast Powered Up\
Says invalid MBG directory; try again.

Does it not like Win7? Tried to run as admins and no luck.
I suspect it might not like the fact it has spaces in the dir name, which is a bug on your end.

Edit: used no spaces in the dir name and it is still giving me the same error.
Installer therefore is bad, I recommend you trying doing something better because I want my 0.4 data

Edit 2: looked into the bat file, it looks for this:

Quote:IF NOT EXIST %SRC%getdxver.exe (
ECHO Invalid MBG directory; try again

Which is bad because this file is not necessary whatsoever. I actually run MB on the bare minimum of files needed to launch it and this isn't one of them, so that's why the installer bugs out like this.

The files it copies are prefs/config anyway so thats the 0.4 data you're talking about so I'm just gonna copypaste and be done.

Edit 3:

Can't run MBPU. Here's console.log

===== IGNITION ERROR =====

REALLY? If this is why it crashes then you don't check for non-ignition which is a really bad oversight from you.

Edit 5:

I installed it a bit differently and deleted files that appear to be mac stuff and it works now

Matan:

1) I check for getdxver.exe because it's constant across versions. If I used the exe for MB, it's different depending on your version of MB. getdxver.exe usually isn't anything people change, and I've never heard of people getting rid of it before.
2) First of all, the automatic installer would have copied the file for you. In any case, there are different checks (demo.cs) for the non-ignition version.

NOTE TO ALL: There is a glitch in MBPU 1.0!

I've discovered that I was totally stupid, and the Super Bounce in MBPU isn't as strong as the one from MBG (and hasn't been for years). Change the following lines of code to correct it.

marble.cs:
Code:
$superBounceRestitution = 0.8;
becomes
Code:
$superBounceRestitution = mSqrt(0.8);
(This one happens in two places; change both.)

powerUps.cs:
Code:
$superBounceRestitution = 0.9;
becomes
Code:
$superBounceRestitution = mSqrt(0.9);

If you want MBPU to stay authentic to the original game, it's essential that you change these few lines of code (although no levels were rendered unsolvable due to the glitch).

I also observed the Gyrocopter is weaker. That justifies why I can't fly to the finish in Hop Skip and a Jump!

Ralph wrote: I also observed the Gyrocopter is weaker. That justifies why I can't fly to the finish in Hop Skip and a Jump!

I just tested this by activating the Gyrocopter, jumping by the gravity loop in Grand Finale, and counting how many tiles I rose on the wall. I switched back and forth between the original and redone Gyrocopters and found no visible difference. It may be there's a miniscule difference (unlikely, as the correct value seems to be exactly 25% gravity), but if there is, it's not really easy to see; I suspect your problem with HS&J is more of a placebo effect (or possibly caused by getting disoriented from the camera effect?).

I decided to test again with precise measurements, for the heck of it. Jumping from the same spot, with the old Gyrocopter, I had a jump height of 5.553751. With the new Gyrocopter, I had a jump height of 5.553807. I conclude that the Gyrocopter works exactly the same as the original.

If any one of the powerups is inaccurate at this point, it's the Super Speed. But that can't really be helped.

EDIT: Actually, that had more truth to it than I'd hoped. The correct Super Speed power is 25, not 24.7. Change 24.7 to 25 two places in marble.cs, and change 49.4 to 50 in powerUps.cs.

I wish these convoluted installation procedures would work on the first try for once. According to my Mac's terminal .app it says MBPU is successfully installed, however once I go to open the new application nothing happens. It didn't crash or freeze, just nothing happens as if it's an empty application, which is ridiculous because the package contents clearly show the items are in there.

The gyrocopter actually is different. The change in gravity is the same, but under the gyrocopter, you move MUCH slower. I can't do the 35-second path for Grand Finale with the new gyrocopter, but I can get enough height to reach the gem.

Well then. You're absolutely right.

The gyrocopter, in addition to reducing gravity to 25%, doubles your air acceleration. Who knew?

Soooooo to make a long story short, this is a much larger problem than can be fixed by telling people to change a couple of lines of code. I've managed to fix it, but the fix will have to be a patch or something. If anyone REALLY needs the fix, let me know.
