Halloween 2015 - Staff Playtesting Event - Match 1 - Sprawl

In order to make the trailer we needed to record several videos. This is the first of them and it's no other than Sprawl, a balanced map with spooky makeover.

I really liked the level, but I still have a little criticism to do about the ending.

The ramp at the ending will make the marble fly too high, and even if the finish pad's radius has increased specially for the occasion, that bothers me.



I'd recommend make the ramp a bit flatter, or, if you keep this ramp, place the next platform a bit further and/or higher.

You forget a thousand things everyday. Make sure Marble Blast isn't one of 'em.

Gems (23.84s)

An old version of Gems that existed in the game for 6 years, before being changed.
The main noticeable change is the removal of the second floor, but you meet it in Gems of the Deep Blue.
The first floor is less nice with the Moving Platforms, and is smaller overall. New version makes better use of the available space as well.

Recorded on 30th July 2010.

Gordian Knot (Removed Level - PlatinumQuest)

We used to have this level in PQ, until it was removed towards the end of development. No one could beat it except HiGuy and myself.

There were two versions of this level, with the second one being the harder/newest one as well, which makes more full use of the interior.

The puzzle solves itself regardless based on how the actual Gordian Knot puzzle is solved, so as long as you knew where the Gems are and how the puzzle itself works, it made it pretty easy. The Awesome Time itself is shown at the end of the second video, and it's probably half a second faster than what I would eventually put it, had the level released.

My favorite part in the first run was the forced traplaunch, so I screw around with the camera freely. The second run actually results in a game crash because the End Pad moves into your marble, and you get weirdly stuck inside it and it just bugs out.

Puzzle 03 - Icy Loops (12.257 - PlatinumQuest - Removed Level)

Immediately after Icy Path, the next level in the series was this one, which HiGuy created. It was removed due to deeming it too similar to the previous level and not adding much. The original path was also a long winding one, but a couple of shortcuts were purposely made to get between each of the two halves of the level.

This is a speedrun for this level, and the likely Awesome Time would have been set at 13-13.5 seconds.

Anvil (PlatinumQuest - Removed Level [2 runs])

A super old level that got removed early on in 2010 (hmm, do I see a consistency?) was having you learn about the Anvil powerup. Back then it was called the Super Down Powerup, despite the Anvil design.

The two runs showcased are a full run, followed by the quick path. You might notice the speedometer basically reaching past its limits. Again this was back then at the very beginning.

Lastly, this was a haste level. To beat it you had to reach the speed limit once in order to beat the level, unlike today's design, where you must finish above the speed limit.

Trapdoor+Hazard (10.422) and Bloopers

A 3.34s improvement over my 13.76 video from 11 years ago. This one was recorded 2.6 years ago and collected dust ever since.
The level is filled with OOB triggers, so it took some good manoeuvring to avoid them. The bloopers show that there is possible room for improvement, but I ain't doing these crazy stunts.
The downside (?) is we don't have Tsuf's crooked singing in the background this time around.
