I've got to disagree. Even though YouTube basicly mutes everything it comes in contact with, kills video quality, and even cuts off the end of your videos a bit, i don't really hate them. YouTube is simple and easy to use, and im fine with that.
I was just about to create a new thread. Then I saw this.
I just deleted my YouTube account. Before doing so I downloaded an archive of all 95 videos and also saved the dates and descriptions of all of them. Took forever, and the first few archive creations failed, but it's done!
This is a result of me wanting to move away from Google for a while now. I deleted my Gmail account in mid/late 2013, after using it since 2006, when it was still invite only (I also have a full archive of my Gmail messages), and after that the only reason I kept my Google account was because I wasn't sure what to do about my YouTube videos.
I realized that none of my videos were all that noteworthy, so I pulled the plug.
Oh yeah, I also deleted my Facebook account (open since 2008, possibly registered earlier) around December 2013. Twitter was trashed quite a while before that too.
Kinda feels good to start sloughing off some of these old accounts. None of the services actually evolved into something I appreciated. On a somewhat related note, the last couple years I've been losing faith in Apple's software prowess. I still like their hardware, and so I'll probably stick to purchasing their stuff for a while, but their executorial decisions about software (most recently iOS 7 and Mavericks) have been irking me for quite some time.
To be honest, I feel like most software I use is always getting crustier and crustier. Bulkier, more bloated, and especially less stable. I welcome the fixes when they are successful, but there seems to be this systemic disregard for real quality.
I will also note that I have no plans on ever deleting my MBF account. No guarantees, but I will likely just leave it to the devices of the host when I end up forgetting about it.
Youtube really sucks because I was gonna upload a video of MP(size:400MB) it said 600+ mins, does anyone have to wait for 10 hours to upload one tiny video?
Also it's suggestions are really sucky(related to religions)
I've just learned to deal with the various "features" they add. They usually have some obscure workaround for the problems, such as Google+ pages for accounts vs using your actual name (although G+ is stupid).
