"Marble Blast Ultra - The Better Younger Child"

Nikkalotz presents his take on Marble Blast Ultra, comparing it to Marble Blast Gold and discussing its highlights from a casual player's perspective.

September has ended. Some rockstar guy needs to be woken up.

DoxtonPink requested a PSA about good dental hygiene, so: attention!! By order of the Council for Hygienic Oversight of Marblers' PowerUps, otherwise known as C.H.O.M.P., all marblers are hereby advised to brush their teeth for no less than two minutes, twice daily, and floss immediately afterwards. We understand that Groovyball looks like a very tasty jawbreaker.

Customs Roll Call

Three months remain of Customs Roll Call; September brings six returning runners storming through its set of a dozen levels. While nothing in particular stands out regarding a theme or a run significantly better than the others, there will always be something to highlight here and there! Two traplaunches, a gnarly sign hit after some tightropes, a jumping edge hit on a rising moving platform? Don’t miss out!

If you still happen to be unfamiliar with this event, Customs Roll Call is a year-long speedrunning event where twelve levels are announced at the beginning of every month. Players spend the month grinding for the best times, which are then compiled into a video released with the next group of levels.

Here is the video for September! October's levels are found at the end of the post.

Custom Levels

Connie shocked everyone by posting four levels in the first few days of September, followed by a fifth level halfway through the month demonstrating that she wasted the time to learn QuArK for one instance. “g Valley” is DKman00’s impressive debut to level building, developed straight from his brain, and Marblemaster’s “Learn to Marble!” is the most complex rolling tutorial you’ll ever see. Do take a look around.

While zyphor had released 14 levels during the month, twelve of them were of his newest collection of levels called PQ UP!, PlatinumQuest-themed custom with unmissable inspiration from Marble Blast’s spiritual successor Marble It Up!

Speedrunning

September continued a return to a more mellow speedrunning scene throughout the month—of course, there were more records than what’s listed below, but all with pretty minimal improvements. Maybe the standout here is August taking a second off of “Gym”.

Marble Blast Platinum:

  • Gym – 44.467 (August) – prev. 45.485 (Powerjohn25)

Marble Blast Ultra:

  • Hypercube – 4.527 (Charlix) – prev. 4.691 (berserk)

Custom Levels:

  • Random Things – 4.642 (August) – prev. 4.810 (Charlix)

  • Trumpet – 8.903 (August) – prev. 9.575 (DKman00)

Turns out we’ve been doing Trumpet wrong for so many years, and that you can just jump around the bell.

Multiplayer

Following the conclusion of the 2026 Summer Premier, the broadcast of ShadowVisions' sweep over Frostfire in the grand finals was uploaded to the community channel, featuring both players’ perspectives simultaneously!

Miscellaneous

Once again, two months in a row with a Connections puzzle, now based around Marble Blast Platinum levels. One more for a streak!

October Preview

That wraps up September!

As PlatinumQuest version 2.14.0 is planned to release at the start of October, Frostfire has spoken of a month-long racing tournament, geared for the singleplayer folk out there, that will utilize a new racing gamemode.

Meanwhile, Frightfest makes a return during the entire month, which will feature a single-day tournament of some casual, mild chaos a couple weeks down the road. Keep an eye out for the announcement!

And of course, the next set of levels for Customs Roll Call:
