As we pray for the entire world to cool off after a brutally hot summer, there’s no reason why that should apply to the marblers out there though. This year’s Summer Premier saw a thrilling conclusion, Customs Roll Call was intended to be even faster than normal, and even Marbleland has seen some extra love this month.

 

Customs Roll Call

Two thirds of the way through Customs Roll Call! August’s entry takes on a general theme of pure speed, featuring iconic levels like “Pipe Coma Fantasy” and “Farore” and the bunch of runners being led by, to no one’s surprise, HappyTreeX1 again. spearmint also makes his debut.

 

If you still happen to be unfamiliar with this event, Customs Roll Call is a year-long speedrunning event where twelve levels are announced at the beginning of every month. Players spend the month grinding for the best times, which are then compiled into a video released with the next group of levels.

Custom Levels

The custom level scene in August has quietly been a little rampant! Four creators—abhishek839, HappyTreeX1, Ned, and zyphor—had at least five new releases, while charlemaniac and Connie dug up many of their old levels and republished them.

And to your writer’s utter joy, level threads on the forums are once more getting some attention: ILFC (Dozenalist) and zyphor have each created their own, All4Vols98 posted on his for the first time in over three years, and Connie posted to hers following a multiple-day effort listing out her entire levelography on the wiki. It’s a good day to be Nature Freak.

 

Speedrunning

August’s world record count—the month, not the player—took a nosedive to 23. “Parallel World” and “Reuse” saw significant improvements by Powerjohn25, spearmint achieved his second-ever world record, and DKman00 saw his first world record in over three years. bobirika12 also became the next player to achieve all 140 Awesome Times in PlatinumQuest.

Videos were the highlight this time around!

 

Xedron’s record on “Parallel World 2” and August’s record on “Speed Attack”, both from July, were posted to the community channel in an effort to catch up on some impressive recent times.

 

HappyTreeX1 brought back his popular rewind-centered TAS runs, having run all 25 beginner levels of Marble Blast Gold Reloaded. If you’ve been looking for a way to experience his recent flurry of Marble Blast Gold-inspired customs all in one place, eNetro’s 73rd installment of his “Marble Blast Levels” series is the perfect fit for you.

 

Blasted also continued his own series and posted a third “Let’s Play Some…” video, the theme this time being castle levels.

 

And lastly, spearmint’s nine-month effort of grinding Marble Blast Gold placed him fifth on the leaderboards when all was said and done, and he created a fantastic video out of it. He has since moved on to Marble Blast Ultra.

 

 

Multiplayer

The 2026 Summer Premier comes to a close after arguably the most entertaining playoffs we’ve ever seen. The double-elimination format brought a total of thirty matches across both brackets, four more than last year, and this is on top of how drastically the competitive Gem Hunt scene has evolved over the past twelve months. The quality of play has just been spectacular.

 

Continuing right from where July left off, top seed ShadowVisions dismantled theturk1234 4-0 in the winners bracket quarterfinals, and gave Connie the same exact treatment in the semifinals to reach the final. The remaining two quarterfinals matches—Frostfire vs. Mystrox, and Icarus vs. Endy—were both nailbiters that went to seven games; Frostfire and Endy triumphed, and then met in the winners bracket semifinals where Frostfire won somewhat comfortably 4-2.

 

In the losers major quarterfinals, all four matches were won by the higher seed: Jean swept DKman00 4-0 and Keigo forfeited to Icarus; Eguy and theturk1234 outlasted Mystrox and Wilchz in two more 4-3 matches, the latter being a successful reverse sweep after Wilchz had won the first three games. Icarus and theturk1234 both won their next matches in the losers minor semifinals 4-2, sending the teammates of “Eyebrow Battalion” home. Both of their tournaments came to an end immediately afterwards though, as Connie won 4-1 over Icarus and Endy swept theturk1234. In the lower minor final, Connie beat Endy 4-1 to secure her best-ever placement in a major tournament.

 

The winners bracket final was won by ShadowVisions 4-2 over Frostfire to qualify for his second consecutive championship round. Frostfire dropped to the major final of the losers bracket, defeating Connie 5-3, including four straight wins to close out the series. His win marked his own return to the championship round, his first in a summer competition since winning it all in 2016. In the Grand Final, ShadowVisions proved his dominance in the Gem Hunt scene—widely, understandably considered the best in the game today—making a statement with a 5-0 win over Frostfire, claiming his second major title in his first two Summer tournaments.

 

 

In similar form to the Speedrunning section above, two videos unrelated to the tournament are worth highlighting! ShadowVisions made a compilation of clips showcasing him bullying his opponents around like he normally does, while Robert added a fourth installment to his “silly moments" series.

 

Miscellaneous

Beyond his own expectations, RandomityGuy added PlatinumQuest to the Haxe Port catalogue—while a simplified version, compared to the actual game, this does mean that levels for PlatinumQuest, official and custom, are able to be played on a web browser.

 

 

Marbleland saw an update to version 1.12.0, introducing a system for updating levels and viewing previous versions—this allows creators to upload fixes without having to delete and reupload a level entirely. Additionally, profile pages now have a favorites section, giving more use to the Loves feature.

 

DoxtonPink’s Mardle game also made a triumphant return during the final full week of August, after an over four-month-long hiatus. Week 3 took on a theme of official levels having been reskinned to look like they’re from other games. The fourth round begins after another week's break.

 

The hope was to have a Connections puzzle for every month here in the newsletter since the trend began in March, but that lasted through… April, the next month. Finally, here’s a new one, and hoping not to be the last! Once again, every level is in Marble Blast Gold.

Labor Day Madness makes its annual return, once again hosted by Yoshicraft224, which means another chance to attempt to crash PlatinumQuest with far too many players standing still on “King of the Marble”—be sure not to miss out!
