It started back when Marble Blast Platinum released. It had new levels, new graphics, new features, new... everything. People were like "Oh My God this mod is amazing!! I want to make something like this!" And that's when the rampage of noob mods began. Some mods like Marble Blast Emerald, Marble Blast Future and Marble Blast Elite did get good reviews from the community, however other mods that are made with no passion, no direction, no skill, no discipline etcetera all flopped. I think Matan was tired of Marble Blast this and Marble Blast that to the point that he absolutely despised noob Marble Blast mods.
This trend should've ended by the mid 2010s. Yet I still see noob mods like Marble Blast Therefore and Marble Blast Wonder and MB whatever the letter from the alphabet comes next. Why is it still continuing? It all boils down to lack of constructive criticism and inability to perceive them well and take them as an advantage. I think there's more to this but because it is currently 10:57pm, you guys have the permission to add on additional information. Take Marble Blast Blitz as an example.
Oh my god there's a lot of levels and pretty cool skyboxes and all that. But you should see something that's definitely obvious on the image above. The stretched interiors!! That's cursed. But wait, I saw the YouTube videos and realized like 50% of all the levels is LE slop, 20% are levels with interiors or inspiration from other MB mods and I don't even know what the 30% is supposed to represent because there's just too much levels to watch and I do not have time for that!! Yeah yeah, you may say "but the levels are enjoyable!!". Guess what? I played the mod myself 8 months ago. The levels were not the most enjoyable, but it's definitely better than most noob mods out here. This mod looks like Marble Blast Stop II reincarnated. I don't want to be like Matan in a comedy trope in this situation but there are some noticeable similarities between the two.
- Marble Blast Blitz is closer to Marble Blast Stop II version 1.0 than to version 1.4u2rev1 (latest).
- Some levels are just so forgettable. I know this could be the case for PlatinumQuest or Marble Blast Platinum or basically any mod, especially if it has a lot of filler levels.
- Level design. But except Marble Blast Blitz mostly uses pre-built level editor interiors.
The truth is, it takes quite a long time to make a Marble Blast mod. You've got to plan everything out- the style, the graphic design/textures, the music, the playtesting, and even the execution. So, it's not an easy task, especially for a solo mod like Marble Blast Blitz (yes, I'm looking at you KS) But, if you've got everything right, the mod might explode like wildfire. I know some quotes and sentences that are usually connected with life lessons but I'm just going to use some here:
- Quality over quantity. Prioritize making like 75 good-looking levels, each made in like 2 days, over making 150 bad-looking levels, each made in like an hour or something.
- Never give up on your dreams, even if its very challenging. It may be tough at first, but it's gonna benefit you when you finish all of that good work.
- Never see failures as a bad thing, rather see it as an advantage to learn and success later. If your mod has no failures, then it means you never faced with any problems when making the mod, which is a major no no. And, if you don't learn from your past mistakes, you will keep on making the same mistakes over and over again.
- Discipline over motivation. Don't let your other problems as an excuse to stop making your mod.
- And as always, always let the community make constructive criticism on which you should improve or fix, and then adapt those properly to your mod.
