The World Cup is past us, the weather is not getting any cooler, and yet the Summer Premier is still giving the tournament heat that we seemingly can’t live without. The singleplayer scene has also caught some fire, so Marble Blast is actually having a pretty nice summer so far!

Customs Roll Call

The speedrunners thought it would be funny to record new times on a third of the levels all within the last three days of the month and push back editing even further (not like the video was going to be on time anyway Nockess is traveling abroad for a while longer). Once again, August and HappyTreeX1 take over half of July’s catalogue, Powerjohn25 gets a single appearance for the second month in a row, and Icarus finally makes his debut!

If you still happen to be unfamiliar with this event, Customs Roll Call is a year-long speedrunning event where twelve levels are announced at the beginning of every month. Players spend the month grinding for the best times, which are then compiled into a video released with the next group of levels.

As alluded to above, the video isn’t ready yet, but it will be linked here when it is. August’s (the month) levels can still be found at the end of the post.

Custom Levels

The coolest spark in the custom scene this month was JRubik announcing himself with a playable recreation of “Mushroom Gorge”. Yes, that one, from one of the greatest racing games of all time. Afterwards came “Waluigi Pinball” and “Figure 8”, and we can only hope there’s more to follow. Otherwise, HappyTreeX1 is still making rollercoasters, Ned’s creations are consistently visually fascinating, and if by some chance you forgot how to roll, ILFC (Dozenalist)’s got you covered.

Speedrunning

July has been dense with world records, showing the signs that the community is so familiar with—this month is the first of 2026 to break 100 new records! Second place falls to January with 73, so it’s a significant improvement at that.

The first on the list is the eyecatcher: August capitalized on a discovery by Hitgod from over eight years ago for four and a half seconds of improvement—that video will be posted in a week, when August celebrates his birthday. Xedron is scarily coming back to life again, berserk has set the first new Ultra record since January’s rampage, and yes, you are seeing that right: that is Frostfire. Don’t miss the rest of the list, because it’s packed with seconds being shaved off of old records and it’s just awesome.

Multiplayer

The 2026 Summer Premier rolls on into the playoffs after a beautifully round 100 matches across all three divisions! ShadowVisions, Mystrox, and Keigo won the Contender, Challenger, and Open Divisions respectively, each with undefeated records. 

For the first time, Gem Hunt’s flagship tournament sees the double elimination format for the playoffs. All nine players in the Contender Division automatically qualified, seeded in their placements at the end of the regular season, while Mystrox was the only player from the Challenger Division to immediately join them, filling in the tenth seed. serjG and charlemaniac played a match to leave six players each from the Challenger and Open Divisions to battle each other in the play-in round and compete for the six remaining playoff spots. Keigo and A-Game prevailed over serjG and Robert to be the two Open Division names in the playoffs; Wilchz, DKman00, and Endy swept Yoshicraft224, aisaisbeibi, and Plazma, while Jacob triumphed 4-3 over Kalle29 in eight games.

Whew! And now, finally, the playoffs, which have not disappointed so far. The top four seeds all comfortably won their matches over the bottom four seeds en route to the winners bracket quarterfinals: ShadowVisions beat Keigo 4-1, Frostfire beat A-Game 4-0, Icarus beat Wilchz 4-1, and Connie beat Jacob 4-0. Those two conceded games were both won only by a single point.

Farther down the seeding, however, in one of the most stunning upsets of the tournament, #12 seed DKman00 beat #5 seed Eguy 4-2, featuring a tie in the fourth game. #11 seed Endy also upset #6 seed MBOUltimate 4-3, with the final game decided by only three points, while #10 seed Mystrox comfortably won 4-1 over #7 seed Jean.

Down in the losers bracket, Eguy was the only high seed to defend himself from elimination by beating Jacob in the minor quarterfinals. Keigo, the lowest seed in the playoffs, beat bobirika12 4-2, including a last-second red gem collected to win the match-deciding game on “Ramps Revamped” by just a single point. Wilchz additionally upset MBOUltimate 4-2, giving him his only playoffs exit before the quarterfinals, save for 2023.

Finally, Connie defeated DKman00 4-1 in the winners bracket quarterfinals, sending the latter down to the losers bracket to play the winner of A-Game vs. Jean, the only minor quarterfinal match yet to be played.

Miscellaneous

a13069’s mod, Marble Blast Synergy, was updated to version 0.7.0, going from 100 levels to 112.

The Summer Premier is expected to come to a close by the end of August, which means it’s only the best, most high-skill matchups from now until then.
