The initial rush of the new year settled in, and attention turned inward. A revived Valentine’s event, world record routes continuing to spiral into chaos, and the unexpected resurfacing of nearly 20-year-old Marble Blast history defined the year’s shortest month. Here’s how it unfolded.
The Heart Vault
Starting with a rather sweet highlight of the month, the Valentine’s Day-themed event from 11 years ago made a comeback in a new evolution as the Heart Vault.
Participants confirmed their involvement via Discord DM, and each person was then randomly assigned two other participants to pay a compliment to on the forums thread. Posts were hidden until everyone had submitted theirs, and then they were all revealed simultaneously.
The turnout was just spectacular! Reading all the kind words at once was such an uplifting rush—26 participants was a thrilling turnout, and everyone received a lovely ❤️ heart flair for taking part.
Here are some personal favorites looking ahead to the coming year:
-
“Kalle29, you have a very pleasant voice. I can happily tune out every word you're saying and just enjoy its resonant tone.” - NF
-
“Icarus, you crazy bastard. You are one of the funniest dudes I've ever met. The things you have to say sometimes actually have me cackling at my computer screen.” - Endy
-
“[Connie,] I know the projects have become a bit of a meme but the truth is with how draining everything in life is it can be hard to get past the activation energy required to even start something. That's a quality to be proud of, as well as the fact that you'll often be willing to help others.” - ShadowVisions
-
“SummerArmy's levels are... just completely out of this world. It feels like a totally different game when you're playing them, and it's a really fucking cool experience seeing what new ideas he comes up with to build levels around.” - Yoshicraft224
-
“Dearester Nature Freak,
Roses are red, numerical displays are segmented, if we shared a room together, I would leave pregnanted.” - Jojo -
“Eguy, oh Eguy, where do I begin?
I cannot keep my love for you hidden within.
If Mastering the Marble is a place to compare,
All I can do now is sit there and stare.
For you, oh Eguy, so awesome in wonder,
I dream about you as I fall into slumber.” - August
Customs Roll Call
January was a strong start for Customs Roll Call, and February saw even more players getting involved.
If you happened to miss last month’s explanation, Customs Roll Call is a year-long speedrunning event where twelve levels are announced at the beginning of every month. Players spend the month grinding for the best times, which are then compiled into a video released with the next group of levels.
Here is the video for February! March’s levels are found at the end of the post.
New Custom Levels
February was slightly quieter than January on the level building front. HappyTreeX1 and Hyran continued sharpening their Blender skills, Powerjohn25 released his first level in nearly a year, and Malaren (formerly MBCollector672) uploaded his half-mod, half-custom level pack from nine years ago: Marble Blast Nostalgia.
- "Caution Zone" (Hyran)
- "Grassy Simplicity" (ILFC (Dozenalist))
- "Seaside Climb" (All4Vols98)
- "Scaffold Pathfinder" (Powerjohn25)
- "Underneath" (HappyTreeX1)
- "Marble Blast Nostalgia" (Malaren)
New World Records
Still doing what we do best! February also saw two videos posted on the Marble Blast Community channel.
August continues to find crazy new ways to break levels, this time dismantling “Dangerous Development”. The first half mirrors the previous world record path, but everything goes off the rails when he takes advantage of the Nest Egg route instead—a couple of wall hits and careful jumps later, and he’s on the moving platform behind where the player is supposed to be. As if that weren’t enough, there just happens to be a rotated platform next at the end that redirects him to the finish. Serious plot armor.
Eguy made his solo debut on the community channel with a three-second improvement on “Skill Zone”, drastically changing the beginning of the path with a flashy use of the line of Super Speeds and a beautiful wall hit to grab the high gems. The real kicker, though, was combining a crafty edge hit and a Super Speed to snag the gem in the hole, saving time on the Super Jump.
There were enough records this month that listing all of them out—even excluding improvements—would make for an overwhelming list. Going forward, only the more notable improvements will be included. Each entry also lists the record at the start of the month, so it will not take multiple improvements (by the same person or multiple people) into account.
Marble Blast Platinum:
-
Wall Master – 24.180 (Powerjohn25) – prev. 24.665 (Powerjohn25)
-
Skill Zone – 31.604 (Eguy) – prev. 34.714 (Powerjohn25)
PlatinumQuest:
-
Deep Space Morphway – 51.952 (August) – prev. 53.483 (Mystrox)
-
Dangerous Development – 22.233 (August) – prev. 28.422 (August)
-
Treacherous Pits – 6.551 (Jog) – prev. 6.563 (bobirika12)
-
Puzzle 5 - Double Maze – 11.206 (August) – prev. 16.695 (Battlecube314)
-
Perseverance – 1:11.069 (August) – prev. 1:18.883 (August)
Custom Levels:
-
Catwalk Bridges – 41.855 (August) – prev. 45.957 (Powerjohn25)
-
Trampled – 24.888 (Powerjohn25) – prev. 27.638 (Eclipsia)
Easter Egg records also continued to pour in. m2k eased off slightly, now claiming just over half of the 140+ new records, while Charlix stepped up his game to over 30 of his own. Charlix’s last seven consecutive Easter Egg records have been on “Moving Platform Master Course”, currently boasting a 3:29.548—down from the previous 7:07.088 by Powerjohn25.
A Blast from the Past
Completely out of the blue, old-timer Moshe appeared in the live premiere chat of HappyTreeX1’s “Marble Blast Random Levels 120”. After ten years of inactivity, it turns out he’s been quietly floating around the Marble Blast space, checking out some recent custom levels and training the next generation of elite marblers.
As the creator of Marble Blast Platinum’s infamous, but charmingly unforgettable “Morph”, he shared this gem from October 2007 while the level was still a work in progress.

He also shared some early versions of “Camp”, “Camp 2”, and the unreleased “Camp 3” ,which eventually became the PlatinumQuest level “Musing”.

On a similarly nostalgic note, DoxtonPink’s search for the original “level editor” versions of MBP levels—before they were replicated in QuArK—finally paid off. RandomityGuy acquired the files after some digging by Matan, and the levels have been uploaded to Marbleland.
Multiplayer Locked and Loaded
A correction from January’s newsletter: the 2026 Winter Warm Up will take place in March, not February.
The event starts on Saturday, March 7, with a solo pre-seed round running during the previous week, just like last year’s Summer Premier.
Additionally, ShadowVisions released HuntBot, a Discord bot designed for Gem Hunt play—both casual and competitive—to record scores, randomly select maps, and track stats. A further update added 2v2 support, a winrate-based leaderboard, and a ladder challenge system allowing players to challenge opponents ranked above them.
Miscellaneous
Malaren released a tool that allows .mis files to be imported directly into Blender, all interiors and objects included and positioned as expected. Follow-up updates added linking to the PlatinumQuest development repository, integration with Marbleland, and support for Go’way and daniel741852’s marbleBlastToolkit.
a13069’s mod, Marble Blast Synergy, was updated to version 0.6.0, adding 25 levels—10 tutorial and 15 advanced—bringing the total to nearly 100.
The aforementioned “Marble Blast Random Levels 120” is HappyTreeX1’s latest entry to the series running for over seven years now, a 96-level mega-compilation that took over eight months to produce. Over 40 minutes of speedrunning entertainment!
Marbleland received a major update introducing the Curator role (implemented by Keppy). Curators can upvote and downvote levels to help manage spam and low-quality uploads. Levels with a curation score below -1 are hidden from the home page and the search results (and eventually downstream platforms like PlatinumQuest). The default filter is set to “Relevant”, but all levels can be viewed by switching to “All”.
March Preview
That wraps up February!
As March is now underway, the Winter Warm-Up pre-seed round has just begun. PlatinumQuest 2.12 is also on the horizon and will include the new maps being trials during competition.

This title seems a little familiar…
2026 begins with the revival of This Month in Marble Blast! The five-year-old video series that never made it past its pilot episode has evolved into a newsletter, cutting out a substantial amount of production effort to make, frankly, a better product. This will be much more manageable to keep up on a continuous basis, and those who are not active participants in the community (particularly the Discord server) can keep up with the times. With that said…
January kicked off the new year with full steam ahead. From long-running traditions, celebrating an important birthday, catching fire on the leaderboards, and previewing a packed competitive calendar ahead, here’s everything that went down to start the year.
Time Capsule
If somehow you’ve missed it, the Time Capsule is one of our favorite traditions hosted on the forums. Every January 1st, it opens for three weeks, giving everyone a chance to scribble down predictions, resolutions, or whatever thoughts they want to leave behind for the future. With 2026 underway, last year’s participants were able to revisit their predictions and see which ones aged well—and which ones absolutely did not.
Here are some personal favorites looking ahead to the coming year:
-
“The number 61 will feature prominently in a major political scandal.” - Doomblah
-
“I will buy my first house.” - Hyran
-
“... if I do visit the badly famed neighborhoods [of Bucharest], I will hopefully not be in a situation where I’m chased around by druggies in Ferentari.” - Connie
-
“Connie does not release fusion+” - A-Game
-
“Platinum Quest will be the title of an undertaking I will undertake assisting with the excavation of bountiful platinum reserves in South Africa only to smuggle a small portion to my friend in Cape Town.” - Joey
-
“The pair of maroon corduroy pants I’ve had since around 2015 will finally break and I’ll be able to throw them out.” - NF
-
“You idiot did you forget to get vaxxed again” - HiGuy
Level of the Year
2025 saw the rise of custom levels made with Blender, as an alternative to the notorious, but still beloved, Torque Constructor. As more people started creating, the best levels got even better, and the decision to find the cream of the crop became harder to make—one of over 450 custom levels had to be crowned. Just like in previous years, voting began with a larger pool of levels that were rated on a like-to-dislike scale, and the ten levels with the highest average advanced to a final round, where voters rank them favorite to least favorite.
After the initial round of 33 entries, and a top 10 that omitted some still-spectacular entries, the community-selected Level of the Year is… "Blue Thrill" by Wilchz!!
This is Wilchz’s first win! The final standings can be found in the original thread.

Customs Roll Call
On the topic of custom levels, now presenting a new speedrunning event! Organized by yours truly, Customs Roll Call takes place during the entire year to shine some light on some lesser-known creations.
The entire event consists of 144 custom levels, none of which are already featured in any of the custom level packs on the leaderboards, and instead are accessed via the integrated Marbleland. At the start of every month, twelve new levels are revealed; players have that month to grind for the best time and submit their recordings. Once the month wraps up, a compilation featuring the best runs is released alongside the next batch of levels.
With January behind us, here is the video! February’s levels are found at the end of the post.
New Custom Levels
Lastly on custom levels, let’s take a look at some new releases. 30 custom levels were published during the month of January. Here are some notable highlights:
- "Blueberry Roads" (enderman0125)
- "Inside the Grass Tesseract" (TrueSlayer74)
- "RandomityGuy’s REM Radiance" (SummerArmy)
- "Atoll" (Marson)
- "No Hesitation" (berserk)
- "Condensed" (Jaxx)
20th Anniversary of Marble Blast Ultra
January 25th marked two decades since Marble Blast Ultra originally released on Xbox Live Arcade. As has become tradition, Yoshicraft224 hosted the annual Marble Blast Ultra Anniversary event for its sixth occasion since 2019. Players gathered into a single server on the leaderboards and tore through the entire game using co-op mode. The final time came in at 14:35.108, the third-fastest completion since results were first tracked in 2022.
Additionally, speedrunning efforts of the past five years culminated in the third World Record Rampage for the game (performed in PlatinumQuest). Ten speedrunners took part, seven of whom made their first appearances in the series. m2k and berserk continued the pattern of two runners featuring in the majority of the runs, following Cobalt and DKman00 the last time around, and Regislian and Kalle29 in the first.
All sixty levels were new records over the previous rampage, totaling over ten seconds of improvement!
Those with keen eyes may have noticed a level missing from the second rampage. With PlatinumQuest 2.11’s release, “Hypercube” was moved to a new Bonus difficulty that includes nine other levels from Marble Blast Gold’s Xbox release. The update also included a new Bonus difficulty for Ultra itself, consisting of ten levels from Marble Blast Mobile. The two categories will instead feature in a future Bonus Levels rampage.
New World Records
The speedrunning scene has otherwise been off to a hot start this year, with two standout runs being featured on the Marble Blast Community channel.
HappyTreeX1 landed a run on “Monster Speedway” where the timer did not restart after collecting the first Time Travel, pushing the record even further below the already absurd 4-second mark. The record has since been beaten by HappyTreeX1 himself.
On “Work in Progress”, August discovered a wild new skip, disregarding over half of the entire level with a tight edge hit up to the bumper section near the end. August also found a new tweak on “Fly the Coop” that finally pushed the level under 12 seconds, though the record has also been beaten by Powerjohn25—his most notable achievement, however, was a major improvement on “Pathways” that beat Xelna’s former record by over 0.25 seconds.
A list of every new record achieved in January, excluding those which have been beaten:

January also saw a big spike in Easter Egg speedrunning activity, which saw over 150 new records! m2k accounts for nearly two-thirds of those records (including his own improvements), while Charlix, Stormson, and beso all hovered around a dozen each for the month.
2026 Multiplayer Season Preview
ShadowVisions shared a preview of what the competitive Gem Hunt scene will look like in 2026, featuring the likely return of four competitions and some new format changes.
February will host the second annual Winter Warm-Up, once again taking place over a single day. The event will follow the same core structure as last year—a solo pre-seed round on three maps chosen blindly, followed by a double-elimination bracket—however, the tournament will also serve to trial new maps and formats for the competitive season.
The flagship Summer Premier will return from June through August. For the first time since 2023, the regular season format (a.k.a. the Swiss Rounds) will receive a significant overhaul in hopes to minimize unbalanced matchups:
-
Two leagues will be introduced. The Contender Division will consist of 16 players, taken from last year’s Summer Premier, this year’s Winter Warm-Up, and the pre-seed round from this year’s Summer Premier. The Open Division will include all other players, intended for newcomers and less hardcore competitors.
-
Both divisions will feed into a single playoff bracket, which means players in the Open Division will still have a path to win the Summer Premier.
-
The shortened regular season will likely allow for a double-elimination playoff bracket.
Later in the year, the Solo Hunt tournament will return in October, followed by the 2v2 Hunt tournament in December, both for their second occasions.
Miscellaneous
RandomityGuy set up a new dedicated server for PlatinumQuest called Divergence, which is based in Frankfurt, Germany. Contrary to the other dedicated servers, Divergence runs on a native Linux server.
Marble Blast Ultra was featured on GDQ Hotfix! As it did not make an appearance during AGDQ over the summer, it was instead part of the backups showcase. It was run by thearst3rd, with m2k on commentary.
February Preview
That wraps up everything to mention about January! Given that it’s the start of the year, there was more happening than most months with some of the annual traditions, so expect a lighter load next time around. A couple things to look out for in February:
As mentioned earlier, February will see the second Winter Warm-Up; expect signups to be posted soon!
