Hello,

I figured that I would post here because this issue is at least somewhat related to Marble Blast and its community, and I figure that someone here might know what I'm talking about.

I am trying to find the videos from the playlist "Platinum Quest and Marble Blast Gold," uploaded from 2014-2015 to YouTube by user ObsidianMadness (formerly Obsidianmadman, which is still their username on this site). This is a 23 video playlist containing largely gameplay of custom MBG levels, as well as early PlatinumQuest gameplay. I remember watching these videos all the time when I was younger, and even recall downloading them using YouTube Premium's download function sometime in mid-2023. Every video in this playlist was made private by the uploader sometime in 2024, and they have since stopped being active. All of my attempts to find and access the videos, including searching through Internet Archive, Quite A Playlist, and offline downloaders, have all failed to work. The link to the playlist itself, as well as the Quite A Playlist query for it which includes links to every video in the playlist is attached below:

quiteaplaylist.com/search?url=https://ww...Phtyxt1i099CpYjYELaq

I am essentially asking if anyone remembers this video series at all, and if so, if they might have any further information on either where to find the videos, or how to contact their original uploader. I have attempted to reach out to ObsidianMadness across all of the places I can find them being active, but have yet to receive a response of any kind.

While I am aware that this is not directly related to the game, I figure that the best place for me to go to search for information regarding a series on Marble Blast would be to its community. I would like to be able to watch these videos again if possible, and have them archived safely so that they can be preserved. If anyone has any info on this topic, I would greatly appreciate it.

A lot of people here remember those videos quite fondly! ♥︎ And, unfortunately, we've also been trying to rediscover them to no avail, so you've gotten as far as we have. Hoping that someone gets a lucky break or Obsidianmadman decides to come back from the dead.

Yes I remember his videos. At the time it had been a while since I played Marble Blast and I started playing again.

It may be a good idea to archive any Marble Blast videos just in case any of them ever get made private or taken down. It's not just ObsidianMadman either, but Aayrl's first video (Marble Blast Fubar extra levels 1, 7, 9, and 10), most of Hildron101010's (The Computer Clan) MBG videos, and Xx_TokyoJapan_xX (Does anyone remember them? The Journey 1, 2, and 3? Way of the Ninja?) I can't find anymore and might be gone for good unless they all come back or reupload them.

Your message reminded me I have a few ancient MBG videos downloaded from a long time ago. Let me know which of these do you recognize and want.

The Journey 2 and The Ninja Way. That's what I was looking for!

Marble Blast Fubar Extra Levels 11-17, the one with Mindless Self Indulgence, is still on Youtube last I checked. I remember watching that in 2007 as a kid.

Most of the others sound familiar and I might recognize if I watched them. Could you share them all?

That's quite a few videos and it's great to see that archival efforts have been put in place for a substantial amount of content, but unless the ones labelled "Marble blast gold custom maps part 3" or "Marble Blast Gold Custom Levels" in screenshot #2 are belonging to Obsidianmadman/ObsidianMadness, I'm not sure that there is anything in this collection that I in particular am looking for. I would assume that they are not, and that they are either older, or belonging to other specific channels. In any case, I greatly appreciate your help and your efforts.

Frankly, since its been a couple years without any definitive answers from OM, I've considered essentially replicating the videos myself and playing the same levels (since a lot of the video descriptions for the playlist I'm after state every level that was played. I'm not sure how well I'd be able to replicate every feature of the video, including the editing style or general attitude, but I would at least be able to provide some sort of compromise until a response or solution is received.

If there would be any interest in me doing this beyond my own, I'd be happy to hear about it, but until then, I hope that everyone's archiving efforts prove fruitful.

Here are the videos that I had, I think some of them have the upload date metadata in them, and the "Last Modified" date is representative of when I had downloaded them when I was a kid. A bit of a miracle that I was able to navigate a computer enough to be able to download videos off YouTube at the age, something today's kids will never know.

Edit:
It's also interesting to note that the style of custom levels back then are what would be called "slop" in today's terms, and unfortunately quite a few of these "sloppy levels" from back then have been lost, likely due to the creator never sharing them to the public.

Update:
We managed to reach out to them just now and they agreed to make the videos not private, but they will remain unlisted.

Thanks. I've been looking for MARBLE BLAST GOLD CHEAT for ages. Now if only anyone had a copy of Marble Blast Fubar Extra Levels 1, 7, 9, and 10, the first video Aayrl uploaded to his channel which he deleted or made private. It featured playthroughs of Editor's Demise, The OMG 500, Endless Pit, and Editor's Demise Supreme. All his other videos are still there.

I recall watching Xx_TokyoJapan_xX's videos and seeing he didn't put his levels for download (yet) so I'm not surprised there.

I agree most old custom levels would be "slop" by today's standards, even ones I liked as a kid or thought to be classics like the Editor's Demise or all of Hildron101010's levels. I wonder how many old customs which made leaderboards packs 1-6 would even be considered for pack 9 today if packs 1-6 (or packs 1-59) were never put together. I made a few levels myself back then but never shared any of my levels to the public until 2020 and anything I didn't share then is lost forever now, but all of them were slop even back then. I didn't even know how to rename the levels or change the qualifying times. Nostalgic Descent was an attempt at recreating a few of them.

Oh, that's amazing! Thank you so much for your help with contacting them!!

I'm very happy that they've agreed to make the videos accessible again. I hope that they understand that I extend my greatest thanks to them as well. I hope that they are doing well, and I hope that for others here, the videos that they are looking for eventually resurface so that they can be enjoyed as well.

Hi, people reached out to me on the marble discord server with this forum post. I'm glad people actually enjoyed these wacky videos from my childhood, crazy they're still being talked about today. I don't even know exactly why I made these, I just knew I wanted to make something and nothing else seemed to click. I hardly feel like the same person now, got diagnosed with autism a couple years ago and am starting HRT soon.

Playlist is unlisted, I don't really want these publicly visible anymore. Enjoy the insanity

Hot damn, this is beautiful. I hope it sticks with you how much fun these were to watch way back when, and I've heard at least a couple people say they started playing Marble Blast because of them, but at the same time, I know how you feel with wanting to move on and feeling like a totally different person (I see the Discord pfp... love that show dearly), so it means a lot that you did this. Congrats on starting HRT. :)
