I talked to Regi and a couple others about making this and we all agreed it would be cool. Nobody can ever decide what the hardest level(s) is, so why not have a list created by the community?

There are 4 categories:
Hardest MBG (Completion)
Hardest MBP (Completion)
Hardest MBG (Gold Time)
Hardest MBP (Ultimate Time)

The post below shows all the lists, community-created.

It'd be nicer if people had one list to look at embedded here, instead of on another site, perhaps.

Will probably check back later.

Oh, and this is also somewhat similar to the "Battle of the Levels" thing that people did years ago. Check the archive blob thing.

I've been thinking about this thread, and I have a hard time seeing a top 15 if things keep on going as they are right now. Most of us only post a top three, meaning we need lots of people to get any sort of list. In my opinion, it would be better if we all ranked all the levels on a 1-10 scale where 1 is easiest and 10 the hardest. Then we just calculate the average score of that level to create it's final score. The main problem with this idea is that someone will have to do a lot of calculating.

edit: I also think that this poll should go on for longer than it is planned to do right now.

I have a slightly dissenting opinion for MBG which totally should be discussed:
Tightrope is not a relatively hard level to beat. My IRL friends with little to no prior experience can beat it. The challenge is ruined by "just don't turn your camera and you'll be fine," and I hit the gold time in the same way.

MBG Levels:
1. Half Pipe Elite
2. Escher's Race
3. Pathways

MBG Gold Times:
1. Will o' the Wisp
2. Half Pipe Elite
3. Pathways

MBP/more MBG will do later

Great idea yet again, I will update this later...

Edit: Higuy again this is a matter of opinion but can I ask how old your friends are?
And for some of us, e.g. Imp, me, Regi, Pascal etc, we first played those levels a very long time ago, back before even WA or WD was known, so there was no such advice as "don't run your camera". Think about beating a level like that as like a 10 year old, with the patience of a puppy... ;)

Marble Blast Platinum Hardest to Complete

1. The Tale of the Tall Skyscraper
2. Mastering the Marble
3. Space Station
4. Morph
5. Cardcaddy's Diamond Collection

Marble Blast Gold Hardest to Complete

1. Tightrope
2. Airwalk (them fans=1 FPS)
3. Pinball Wizard
4. Will o Wisp
5. Half-Pipe Elite

Marble Blast Platinum Hardest Ultimate Times

1. Cardcaddy's Diamond Collection
2. The Tale of the Tall Skyscraper
3. Battlecube Finale
4. Mastering the Marble
5. Arch Acropolis

Marble Blast Gold Hardest Gold Times

1. Tightrope
2. Pinball Wizard
3. Will o Wisp
4. Airwalk
5. Half-Pipe Elite

I might be changing the list, but for now this is the way I remember them.
N.B: some surprise inclusions are because some of these levels used to destroy my computer whenever I played them, especially Airwalk, which made it exponentially harder :P
Also try beating those levels, especially the MBP ones, without any sort of WR path or a general path guide...way worse :P

Dushine and HiGuy, you gave me something to to think about there. When this game came out, I was only 6 or 7 years old and new nothing about it, although I was pretty good at it. Looking back at it now it seems like Tightrope would have been a difficult level, but I don't remember having any trouble beating it, gold was another story though. In fact, I only remember two levels as being really difficult to beat, and those were Eschers race and Scaffold. Can't really remember why Scaffold was so diffucult for me though... Gotta rethink my rankings

My IRL friends are 16/17, managed to beat it after ~20 tries. Hardest part for them (hilariously) was that the MPs on the sides were too fast and threw them off. The actual tightropes never proved much of an issue. They figured out the camera trick pretty quickly (one actually never turns camera, it was kinda funny), and consistently made it to the 2nd level before falling off. Gold on tightrope did take me some time, yes. Nobody I know IRL has beaten that (but they don't have any of the gold times).

When I started, I managed to get all the way to Half Pipe Elite where I was stuck for roughly a month. That level is absolute hell for beginners, specifically the first gem in midair. That level was bad, but it wasn't until Escher's Race that I really needed to cheat to continue. Never actually got to Scaffold on my original playthrough, as I found custom levels / MBP.

Anyway, that's just my $0.02.

For me I beat every level in MBG within a year of getting the game, except for TWO.
Tightrope & Pathways.
Those stupid levels were almost impossible for me and I was way too young to understand the camera trick on Tightrope. I think 2-3 years after getting the game I finally beat Tightrope. Believe it or not, the first time I beat Pathways was about a year ago when I joined the community (once I got good I stopped playing SP lol).

Yeah, Tightrope is extremely easy if you look directly down and never rotate left/right. That's how I got 24.62 on that level. It is probably possible to get sub-20 without rotating the camera. It's a bit surprising that this is worth more points on the leaderboard then beating Ramps Reloaded in less than 15 seconds or Battlecube Finale under 7 minutes. I also had a lot more trouble with getting gold on Will o' the Wisp than I had getting gold on Tightrope.

OMG frost. EXACT same thing here. Missed tightrope and pathways. Also, I agree that tightrope first challenge isn't too bad, but the 2nd and 3rd parts are super tough. Although, it makes it easier to complete when u take the full path. Also I saw someone doing tightrope on a lets play, and he finished it w/o falling OOB once. In MBP, there is something u guys missed I think. Back when I wasn't good, I made it 99:59:99 and more on the clock to beat speed attack. I did not understand the edge hit super speed challenge especially, and that I had to use the SS after the edge hit. I had to bust my butt and find a super hard method to get past that part.

Here goes mine. Hardest to complete basing on my experience on 7 or something years back when i started playing MBG.

Hardest to complete MBG.
1.Scaffold (I can still see this thing in my nightmares)
2.Airwalk (Same as Dushine, it was killing my pc and thus made it ridiculously hard)
3.KotM (Most of the times eather trapdoors or mines got me)
4.Half pipe elite (that first gem, i spent hours upon hours on this)

Hardest to get gold times on MBG
I may not even express my opinion on this as i never really went to get all gold times. Sometimes they just pop up as I play through levels nowadays or if I'm really close I try to find path to get it but otherwise gold times felt like grind to me.

Hardest to complete MBP
1.Morph (i think i beated it only once or fell obb right before finish, can't remember)
2.B.C finale (Let us never speak of it again)
3. Space station (would be decent level but theres one part where youre in complete darkness and it kills it+ some odd pixel perfect wallhit)

Hardest ultimate times MBP
Cant participate in this aether as Ultimate is grind IMO, Never invested any time in getting any UT's.

I will update this post with more levels.
Also just adding. For example back in day scaffold was hard to me because I couldn't control spin properly and i was trying to get upwards by getting precise roling speed. I used to hate trapdoors back in the day (thats why Kotm was such a pain). Rest of MBG levels were hard in some way but they where beatable with grinding or stealthiness. Tightrope were relatively easy because I was slowly moving my marble, turned mouse sideways if necessary, and looked at pixels under my marble to see if it goes off the line. Id say difficulty on any MBG level depends on lack of skill in any aspect, in my case it was spin of marble/air control.
As for MBP, theres checkpoints on each long and hard level so all expert levels are beatable with loads of retries and even hours spent on single map. Over years I have slowly, level after level, beaten all expert. Morph in this case is level without any checkpoints but ridiculous length, that's why it's hard for most people and BC finale has a timer that renders checkpoints kinda usales.

Some guy that does DTS shapes and levels.

AWESOME time HINT : When making PQ level place your custom interiors and textures in platinum/data/interiors_pq/custom
makes life easier for you and everyone else :)

I completely agree with Frostfire on Ground Zero. That level is just evil and purely luck-based. I probably get the right nuke hit once per 2500 tries. It was one of the four levels I didn't get UT on my first day on the beta. I finally got it a week later. The only other online attempt I successfully pulled was a 2.2x from an edge hit off one of the stairs. I probably was less frustrated with Helicopter Monster Course and Platform Mayhem, even though I didn't have those two UT's in 1.20.

The one thing I'd say is Natural Selection and SOTF gold times don't require traplaunch, just that you get the time modifiers. Not sure if you knew :P

Still not sure why so many people are voting for Tightropes .. I've beaten the gold time on this level after one or two attempts. These levels aren't significantly difficult if you have decent maneuvering skills. I also feel some of the MBP level selections are biased simply because the most popular "difficult" levels are just the ones with 100 gems and take 10 minutes to complete. Just because a level is long doesn't make it difficult - eg, Battlecube Finale was the first Expert Level I was able to get the ultimate time on because it was .. well, rolling around flat surfaces and handling various frictions and the occasional gravity modifier. Nothing difficult there.

These are my opinions, feel free to discuss them, but I'm selecting the below levels based on their difficulty in my eyes as I've watched hundreds of players of all kinds of skill levels try to complete them over the many years I've demo'd Marble Blast to various friends and colleagues. See the description for each of my level choices.

[hr]Marble Blast Gold Hardest to Complete

1. Pathways - Another tightrope level, but this time with moving obstacles ON the tighropes, combined with two different gravity faces and obnoxious tiny elevators makes this the hands down most difficult MBG level to complete. Of the several hundred folks I've watched play through the game, not a single one of them has even dared to attempt this level more than once after seeing its absolute evil design. King of the Mountain AND Darwin's Dilemma are still both much easier than this level, and this arguably should've been the final challenge of MBG.

2. Eye of the Storm - I think this level is underrated in novice MBG difficulty. On my first play through of MBG, it took me several weeks just to pass this level. I've seen many others fail to get out of the tornado in the center, as is clearly evidence from the top scores on the Multiplayer version of this level. Once you've mastered the ways of the tornado, it's a piece of cake. However, in terms of a learning curve, I definitely rank this as one of the most difficult MBG levels.

3. Will o Wisp - Whoever thought curved tightropes was a good idea for an "advanced" level was on something. This was a major roadblock for many players, and should've been placed later on in the level sequence.

4. Scaffold - Another grave speedbump in the MBG Advanced Level Series, this level was the bane of many many players, myself included. This little devil took several weeks to pass for me, simply because having to constantly jump and move forward while accounting for a semi-random force imposed by the trap doors took a delicate art to master, making Scaffold one of the most difficult MBG levels.

5. Airwalk - Here's a grand idea; Let's place 64 fans on one level and see how many players we can deafen. The horrendous noise combined with the incredibly low frame rate made this one of the most annoying levels to complete when MBG originally came out. You practically needed a super computer to run it smoothly; that is, if you haven't thrown your speakers out the window from the deafening "FFRMWMWMWMWM".

Marble Blast Platinum Hardest to Complete

1. Morph - Okay, let's be real. This is truly the most difficult MBP level ever conceived. It's excellent and original design also make it one of the most memorable, but the sheer difficulty of the challenges and the lengthy duration of the level in the Advanced series make it one of the toughest challenges to beat to date.

2. Arch Acropolis - Short, sweet, and an absolute nightmare if you suck at skill shots and gyrocopters. Combined with the short par time, Arch Acropolis is easily one of the most challenging Expert levels in the series.

3. Catwalks - Remember those tightrope levels from MBG? Let's make one twice as long and four times as difficult to complete. Enter Catwalks, the most inconveniently placed Expert Level to date. Players just finished Slowropes, and are thinking "Good, got past the stupid tightrope level", and they would be absolutely wrong. Catwalks, to me, was the ultimate middle finger as I was progressing through the MBP levels.

4. Diagonal Training (Pre-Nerf) - Honestly, I personally had difficulties even completing this level sometimes. I've watched so many beginner players get to the section with the last gem and just not be able to time the jumping and the diagonal properly and fail every time consistently. This arguably was an Advanced Difficulty level stuck towards the end of the Beginner Levels mainly due to that one "skillshot" required at the end of the level.

5. Spin Practice - I'm actually surprised this wasn't mentioned yet. I personally did not have a lot of difficulty with this level initially, but upon watching several intermediate-skilled players try to pass it, I realized some of the wall-hit and diagonal techniques required to just pass the level made it all the more difficult. I would've liked to see this level enter later in the Intermediate section, but it's introduction early on in the sequence make it one of the more difficult levels.

Marble Blast Gold Hardest Gold Times

1. Pathways - Is this honestly a surprise? The most difficult MBG level of course has the most difficult gold time. It wasn't until watching the first MBG World Record Rampage that I actually learned the Gold Time was even possible for this level. Up until then, I just figured someone made a typo in the original .mis file to screw with players. This is the only Gold Time I have never achieved in Marble Blast Gold.

2. Darwin's Dilemma - The level itself isn't that bad; It's when you start trying to grab all of the Time Travels is when things get difficult. This level took me a good few weeks in my youth to finally claim a Gold Time score, and it's certainly not easy by any means.

3. Natural Selection - Don't fall behind! Or, in this case, Fall behind, but manage to somehow stay on the fast-moving platform if you even want to dream of holding that delicious Gold Time in your mouth. (Just so we're clear, don't eat Gold Times, it's not good for you.) Advanced maneuvering abilities and memorization of the level is key.

4. Half Pipe Elite - This level could be more annoying if there were more gems floating mid-air between the half pipes, but at least you only have to play the first 3 seconds before you know whether or not you have to restart the level. Seriously, that first gem is a colossal pain in the arse. Even if you manage to snag it, you'll still need to perform some crazy double-skillshots on the remaining gems if you even want to consider attaining the Gold Time.

5. Will o Wisp - That's right, I beat the Gold Time on this level once, and I exclaimed "Never Again!" Unless there's a super secret pathway that none of us have found to date, this level is definitely one of the tightest Gold Times to attain. You probably won't find this level's Gold Time too difficult if you're a fan of blazing through Tightrope levels - I prefer to be a bit more cautious, and it really costs me time. I know I'm not the only one intimidated by tiny, curved platforms.

Marble Blast Platinum Hardest Ultimate Times

1. Cardcaddy's Diamond Collection - It's 20% skill, 20% memorization, 50% luck, and 10% concentrated power of will. If you're one of the less than 15 players to ever achieve the Ultimate Time on this level, you're truly one of Marble Blast's best players. I personally have not even beat the Platinum Time on this level, and I have no desire to ever play this level again because of its sheer size and design. To those who dare attempt the Ultimate Time; good luck.

2. The Tale of the Tall Skyscraper - An extremely long and quite difficult level, combined with not-a-lot of wiggle room for error, this level was probably one of the most frustrating Ultimate Times to attain. To date, less than 35 people have ever achieved the ultimate time in the world (and I am not one of them). Let that sink in for a moment.

3. Nuke Field - Yes, it's been mentioned hundreds of times already as having one of the most ridiculous Ultimate Time paths in history. Hit the nuke just right or you'll have to restart the entire level. I still have yet to obtain this Ultimate Time.

4. Speed Attack - More skillshots required here, combined with a length five-minute level makes this one of the more difficult Ultimate Times to attain (unless, of course, you're Xelna). I have yet to get under 4 minutes on this level, which is not even close to the Ultimate Time of 3 minutes 15 seconds. You'll go crazy hearing "SPEED BOOSTAIR" in your sleep before you manage to snag this one.

5. Helicopter Monster Course - Lastly, this behemoth level was just begging to be included on this list. You practically need a pilot's license to pass the dang level, and honestly you'll probably be a semi-decent Huey pilot if you manage to pass the Ultimate Time. (Don't try to fly helicopters based off your Marble Blast expertise, please.) Fast movement and sharp maneuvering skills are key to crowning yourself an Ultimate Helicopter player.

I must argue, Aayrl, with selecting Diagonal Training & Spin Practice over
- ttotts
- mtm
- ss
- tufc
- slowropes

I know the beginner players have absolutely no chance at beating diag or spin practice, but they wouldn't have a chance with the experts mentioned above either :P

I'm still standing by my selections - Diagonal Training (Pre-Nerf) and Spin Practice were definitely some of the hardest levels in MBP for the overall average player to complete. While I can agree that levels such as Tall Skyscraper and Slowropes are definitely no walk in the park, the difficulty an expert player faces while playing those levels is sub-par compared to the difficulty an Intermediate player faces while playing Spin Practice.

My choices are taking into account the intended audience of the levels. In my humble opinion, Diagonal Training (Pre-Nerf) has the same difficulty to a beginner player as TTotTS has to an expert player.
