Splitting on every level while playing is pretty hard yeah, unless you have a foot pedal.

Can't you just set the split button as anything you want? My mouse has several extra buttons so I should be able to use a side button which would make it a lot easier to split.

Yeah, I use a side mouse button for splitting. The problem is that it's inaccurate, especially for shorter levels. My best splits on Beginner levels are determined not by my best times, but by the earliest I click the button.

I guess those inaccuracies don’t really matter in the long run, but an auto-splitter would be nifty, especially for those without a gaming mouse. HiGuy pls

You don't have to stream, but if someone decides to proofcall you, you would have to be able to back it up. That's why you should at least screen record your runs. And yes you could still participate in races, I don't see why not.

How about we have the first weekly race this Sunday at 3pm EST on SpeedRunsLive, and all the following ones would be on Saturdays 3pm EST?

Sounds cool. I can be pretty busy on weekends, but I'll try my best to make it.

The first weekly race went well, GGs to all. The next race will be on Friday @ 3pm ET.

There was additional interest from other people, but the registration process was too confusing, so they opted out. Here are some step-by-step instructions to ease the learning curve that comes with SpeedRunsLive:

1. To create an account, visit www.speedrunslive.com/channel/ and login to the IRC with your preferred username. Type /nickserv register [password] [e-mail] (filling in the necessary information, of course.)

2. Switch to the #speedrunslive tab within the IRC widget. You can type .races to view the ongoing races. Join the #srl-xxxxx channel by clicking on the link next to Marble Blast Gold.

3. Type .enter in the new #srl-xxxxx channel to join the race. That's all! From there you can chat with others, add your livestream if you have one, and race. Whoever is running the race will walk you through some of the finer details.

(Recommended, but more setup) LiveSplit is by far the best racing timer available, and it has SRL integration. After installing, play around with the program and set your preferred hotkeys in the settings. You can load level-by-level splits by downloading them from splits.io. You can enter a race from LiveSplit by going to Races -> Marble Blast. An additional chat window will pop up. This is awesome because you wouldn't have to leave your browser open to participate. Your LiveSplit timer will begin automatically when the race starts, and type .done for you when you stop the timer.

E: Oh, and don't forget to load this prefs.cs into your marble/client for easier menuing.

Considering getting back into MBG 100 Levels Speedruns in a week or two. Target time would be something like 36:4x or 36:3x. Also thinking about only recording the game feed (no timer on top of it) with the intent of adding commentary. We'll see about the timer thing though. It'll be a grind for sure.

A couple months ago I tried some beginner RTAs, but never got a run that I was satisfied with. I might go back to it sometime this month though (and do other categories).

So you're not thinking of having the audio be live, but rather a commentary afterwards? I think that would work pretty well since you'll be able to explain a lot of what you're doing.

@Xelna: Hey, you should consider speedrunning Marble It Up! too while you're at it. Heard it's pretty fun to speedrun it.
