Jerry was in Frosty's server shortly before the tournament started and said he would spec all matches, so he was removed.

So he didn't want to participate? Or he got kicked out? I'm a bit confused as to why he was removed.

He basically notified us he would not be able to participate, or at least something along those lines. Don't worry - he wasn't kicked out against his will.

Today we had another match! Yay! You can view it on Imperial's twitch channel, thanks Imp!
Jeff (home) vs. Nihahhat (away)

After the warm up match, I thought it would be much closer than it turned out.
Map 1: Triple Decker
Chosen by: Jeff
Final score: 126-83 Nihahhat
Total score: 1-0 Nihahhat
After some contemplation, Jeff approached with a small map, Triple Decker. In short, despite some fluctuation, Nihahhat dominated from start to finish.

Map 2: Tilo
Chosen by: Nihahhat
Final score: 106-84 Nihahhat
Total score: 2-0 Nihahhat

After quite some contemplation, Nihahhat, interestingly, chose Tilo. Nihahhat started out with a big lead, then something strange happened: after the first minute, both marbles stopped rolling, and Nihahhat requested a redo. Apparently, the two were on a Skype call and Nihahhat requested to Regi that they redo because Jeff got somehow "stuck on the edge" for a while. So, they redid it and Jeff was faring much better than before. But, Nihahhat got a big lead again after the first minute, and although Jeff pushed for a comeback, it was simply too little, too late. Note: At some point both marbles stopped for a while for whatever reason. No clue.

Map 3: Sprawl
Chosen by: Jeff
Final score: 129-110 Nihahhat
Total score: Nihahhat wins 3-0

With both players nervous as ever (not totally true), Jeff pulled the biggest shocker yet: Sprawl. He was in very close quarters with Nihahhat this game. Towards the end, Nihahhat got another big lead. Jeff, once again, fell short of a comeback, ending the match as a sweep for Nihahhat. Looking forward to more matches!

Great job guys! ~Eguy

The fourth tournament match took place today - halfway done with the first round!

The match was Mister Otter 11 (home) vs Rozi (away)

Map: Blast Club
Chosen By: Otter
Score: 87-63 Rozi
Total Score: 1-0 Rozi

This match was a pretty good match. Rozi pulled ahead at the start, but midway through Otter started to comeback. At one point, he was within 10 of Rozi, but then he started to fall behind again, and in the end, Rozi was too much for him.

Map: Bowl
Chosen By: Rozi
Score: 111-64 Rozi
Total Score: 2-0 Rozi

Rozi chose his favorite, Bowl. Unsurprisingly it was a solid win.

Map: Ramp Matrix
Chosen By: Otter
Score: 96-34 Rozi
Total Score: 3-0 Rozi Wins

This map was Mister Otter's downfall. Rozi was the first to every spawn. Simply not a good map choice for Otter.

Good game, guys!

Another match happened... It's Pro Marbler playing on his birthday!

Pro Marbler (home) vs MBK (away)

Map: Zenith
Chosen By: Pro
Score: 138-74 MBK
Total Score: 1-0 MBK

The first match was not much of a contest. Pro showed off a couple decent moves, but MBK simply got more at every spawn.

Map: Promontory
Chosen By: MBK
Score: 168-46 MBK
Total Score: 2-0 MBK

We'll keep it at "it was ugly".

Map: Horizon
Chosen By: Pro
Score: 130-86 MBK
Total Score: 3-0 MBK Wins

I was not spectating this one, but pro informed me that "reds were even, yellows and blues made the difference especially blues".

Good game guys!

One more match happened, meaning Alexis vs. Lee is the last one to be played.

RC (home) vs. Lichable (away)

Map: Sprawl
Chosen By: RC
Score: 240-61 RC
Match Score: 1-0 RC

RC is very very very good on Sprawl. Dominated the game from start to finish and was simply first to most spawns. Lichable tried and didn't really make many big mistakes imo, just that RC played very well.

N.B. Here, Lich wanted to declare a forfeit. Initial reactions were 'lol what' but he was serious. RC and Imperial (who was streaming) were unsure how to react at first. Lich said that 'im the worst mp player versus the best'. RC explained that he was 'crazily good' on Sprawl (modest :P), and both stated between both of them that a) Frostfire would probably not like that to happen (point differential reasons) and b) there was more matches to play (5 more until playoffs) where Lich would face players nearer to his skill level and c) he would never play RC again.

Lichable decided that he would continue after all and picked the next map as normal. Happy that he did :)

Map: Marble City
Chosen By: Lichable
Score: 160-67 RC
Overall Score: 2-0 RC

RC won predictably again. Lichable definitely played better though considering how good RC actually is.
Fun Fact: Lichable got more blues than RC this match. (2 vs 1)

Map: All Angles
Chosen By: RC
Score: 119-33 RC
Overall Score: 3-0 RC

RC dominated this match much like he did on Sprawl, from start to finish. Picked up every blue (apart from one) and got more at basically every spawn, no matter what Lichable did.

I forsee more desctruction by RC. (Regislian in chat said he had seen bigger wins than in the Sprawl match.)

RC2gud.

Our first match of the second round took place today!

Jeff (home) vs Kalle (away)

Map: Ramp Matrix
Chosen By: Jeff
Score: 96-57 Kalle
Total Score: 1-0 Kalle

The first part of the game was pretty even. It was 32-28 at one point, but from there, Kalle simply pulled away.

Map: Skate Battle Royale
Chosen By: Kalle
Score: 85-50 Kalle
Total Score: 2-0 Kalle

Jeff performed well here, but his decision making was lacking and Kalle got every blue.

Map: Playground
Chosen By: Jeff
Score: 141-83 Kalle
Total Score: 3-0 Kalle Wins

Not much to say here. Kalle dominated from start to finish.

Good game guys!

Our second match of the second round has just occured! I was part of it...

Frostfire (home) vs Lee Zi Xian (away)

Map: Architecture
Chosen By: Frost
Score: 149-83 Frost
Total Score: 1-0 Frost

Not much to say here. Archi is known to be my best map. Lee also stated that he made lots of errors on this one.

Map: Zenith
Chosen By: Lee
Score: 122-77 Frost
Total Score: 2-0 Frost

Lee chose Zenith - apparently unaware that it is one of my strongest maps. I kept a 10-20 point lead throughout the game and pulled away near the end. One notable moment with ten seconds left on the clock - I blasted Lee over a blue, and then bounced over it myself. Lots of /v2.

Map: Marble It Up!
Chosen By: Frost
Score: 100-89 Frost
Total Score: 3-0 Frost Wins

I was considering Marble It Up, and when I mentioned it, Lee reacted with "ggs". I took this to mean he was bad at it, but it turned out to be the exact opposite. I played a solid game and he stuck with me the whole time. With less than 2.5 minutes left, he took the lead 58-57. It was even until about the 45 seconds mark, where I took a 10-point lead with a blue+yellow play. He pulled back slightly, but couldn't recover the deficit. This was an exciting game for both of us, and I wasn't sure until the final seconds I had the win.

Great games Lee - especially that last one!

Today we had our most exciting match yet in the tournament!

Rozi (home) VS J@ckrb (away)

Map: Bowl
Chosen By: Rozi
Score: 106-96 Jack
Total Score: 1-0 Jack

This was, to put it lightly, extremely entertaining. The match was tied with 30 seconds left. Jack got most of the next spawn, taking a 6 point lead. Rozi still had a chance until Jack swallowed up the next spawn, putting himself ahead by 10+. The most exciting game of the tournament so far.

Map: Tilo
Chosen By: Jack
Score: 101-71 Jack
Total Score: 2-0 Jack

Less exciting here. Jack took an early lead and kept it growing slowly throughout the match. Rozi did decently but couldn't keep up with Jack on this map.

Map: Playground
Chosen By: Rozi
Score: 113-99 Jack
Total Score: 3-0 Jack Wins

This one, like the first, was close til' the end. Halfway through it was tied 65-65; it stayed even until the 80s when Jack started to pull away. He 80% of two whole spawns and Rozi couldn't recover his loss. A great match; #3 so far of the most exciting of the tourney (behind Jack vs Rozi on Bowl, and Eguy vs me on Zenith).

You can watch all three games on Imperial's twitch channel - the games on Playground and Bowl are definitely worth a view.

Great game guys - thanks for supplying us with the most exciting match yet!

That was entertaining for the neutrals. I would say shame it was only 3 games but I won't because my god that was stressful enough. I would have died afterwards if were to be a 5-game epic :P

Rewatching:
Bowl and Playground were super close (Bowl especially) and I barely scraped ahead late on. The rarity of blues (2 in three matches, one coming in on slightly less entertaining Tilo :P) certainly helped keep it close.
Tilo choice worked out well (plz eguy don't judge me), I also didn't even notice jeef being a pleb and being muted (jeef who do you think I am kalle how could you ;_;)

Well done Rozi for putting up a very good game and keeping it close all the way to make it very entertaining to watch! :)

Regi and I met up today but after trying countless configurations I just couldn't get a solid frame-rate. It could be my connection, my graphics card, or both. If I can't pinpoint the problem by the next round, I'll take myself out of the whole tournament.
