Today was kind of dumb. My sleep hasn't been great lately, probably due to the clock change (I firmly believe we should abolish DST and have year-round standard time). The night before last I slept 9 hours, but last night I didn't get tired and fall asleep until about 1:40 AM.

I also haven't had the time to check these forums nearly as much as I want to. There are so many unread messages to read! But I will certainly find time to read them this weekend. It's nice to be able to see what I've missed in one place and know that I can easily read up when I have the time.

In many other parts of the country today it was 90°F (32°C) or hotter, but here we just got 30°F (–1°C) and snow. I can't drive, and no one was around to drive me, so I had to walk on the unplowed sidewalk through several inches of snow to work. Then I got there, went through the work routine, and somehow cut my finger on a metal shelf. It wasn't bad or anything, but it was the fourth time I've accidentally cut myself this week, and I'm sick of it!

When I got home, my family was in a bad mood because of a massive inconvenience caused by the roads being so bad. That's a drastic oversimplification, but what matters is that the atmosphere in the house was very unpleasant. And when other people are mad, it makes me mad too. They got takeout from this really good restaurant (and we only get takeout a few times a year for birthdays). Since they'd had such a bad day, I said they could eat what they wanted and then I'd take whatever was left over, but then they left me something with pork, and I'm not supposed to eat mammal meat because it's bad for my kidneys. So I was really upset that I hadn't been more insistent on getting to eat the chicken thing rather than the pork thing. They were telling me to just eat it anyway. Sometimes I dream about them telling me to eat things I can't eat and then I start crying (in the dream).

I'm not going to catch up on the forums tonight—I just need to do something mindless on the computer for the evening. How about that new MacBook Neo, huh? I wonder how many of you are going to switch to macOS now because of it. For all my problems with macOS 26, it is incredibly stable for PQ, and I haven't had it crash once so far. And this most recent update, 26.3.1 (a), seems to have made the system animations and performance way, way less laggy. Before the update, I would lock my computer and it would freeze halfway between unlocked and locked for several seconds. Then the background would just show as black for a few seconds after that, and sometimes wouldn't even load the picture completely before the display turned off. And when I woke it from sleep, not only would it take several seconds to wake (when one of the main selling points of Apple Silicon Macs was how they wake instantly from sleep), but with the first keyboard input after waking, the system would freeze completely for 10–15 seconds! It was so bad! But now all of that seems fixed with just a security update. That's pretty nice. I'll have to test screen sharing, because sometimes the lag when starting screen sharing was so bad that I would have to force restart the entire computer. Not good, Apple. I hope they fixed it. I'll keep you updated if anyone even responds to this.
