Hey guys, so I've been working on a new marble blast game in ue4 that I plan on calling, "Marble Blast Ultimate". I've put in about a week of work into it so far, and this is how it looks:

Feel free to tell me what you guys think!

One: Ayy, it's not just a modification of Marble Blast Gold! :D
Two: Not to discourage you, but none of us are going to be surprised if this one dies before release like most other fan-made Marble Blast games. I'll go ahead and spare other people the trouble of telling you this: Make custom levels first. Again, I don't want to come off as rude at all, but many new people have announced a new modification with it ending up dying before a month into development. Know what you're getting into.
Three: Please no piercing oversaturated bright coloring. :p
Four: Work on the UV mapping. ;)
Five: I believe the name Marble Blast Ultimate was taken by a modification a while ago. It didn't get finished of course, so I don't really care if you do use the name in that regard, but it's kind of uncreative.
Lastly: I would have suggested waiting at least a month into development before announcing your game, but anyway I'd really like to see where this goes if you have a consistent stream of motivation to back you up.

Thank you for your feedback!
first of all, don't worry about it dying... This ain't my first rodeo. (btw you weren't rude)
second of all, I will continue to develop the shaders and play around with the colors, so don't worry about that :)
I'll probably be back with some gameplay footage pretty soon, and maybe an alpha build if yall are up for that!
Sincerely, Yodadude2003

Here's a little gameplay demo, I only have one map so far, but obviously I plan to add more.

The physics aren't bad so far, however I think they need to be twice as fast. :p

Looks Good! :cheer: And I agree with Weather, perhaps turn up the game speed or increase gravity/speed. Also, can you turn in the air? It looks like you can't in the video, but just to be sure :)

Yes indeed you can turn in the air, and I will get right to it with the marble speed. Thanks guys!

I have improved the physics by decreasing the angular dampening by 50%, and then I also decreased the jump height by about 14%.
I was also able to create a couple more maps. Enjoy!

This is interesting, nothing has caught my attention like this since the now dead Marble Blast Gold HD remake (except for like, PQ :) ). Like Weather said, it's not exactly a modification. Right now it's just a remake of MBU in the Unreal Engine 4 but that's exactly what's grabbed my attention. If you could just finish getting the physics right, you're on the road to something.

Just a random thought, but I was thinking that there could be an in-game gem store.
So instead of having courses specifically for collecting gems, there could be gems spread throughout all the levels, and you could use them as in game currency, to buy stuff like power-ups, more tracks, and whatnot. I think it would be a nice twist on the traditional marble blast formula.
What do you guys think?

This is my point of comparison for UE4 marble games atm . Should work on the basics before you add UI/other features.

wow! I'd be surprised if I could make anything that looks even remotely as good as that, but to do such a thing would take ages... I was able to note that recent changes that I have made to the physics model are strikingly similar to the video you have provided, so I think I can move on from that. I would really like to make my game look just as good, but I also want to have support for lower end PCs. I think the game is pretty much ready for an alpha build, so if you guys want to try it out, I'll be happy to provide that! BTW thanks Trace for the amazing video, I'll never look at UE4 the same way again...

Alright People, its about time we give this game a name, so I'm gonna call it Marble Blast Exodus. Exodus, because it is not simply an old game becoming new again, but rather a departure, a change for the better, from the original ideas that have sculpted so many of these great games.
So I proudly announce this, the first publicly available alpha build of Marble Blast Exodus!

Looks like there isn't really a way to cook for mac without actually having a mac or a vm...

I know this thread is kinda dead, but ive been doing a lot of work on this game lately.

I think I got the physics mostly right, and I've obviously given the game a whole new makeover.
The controls feel really good, and even my little brother thinks it plays just like mbu.
Let me know if this is still of interest to anyone.
Thanks,
Yodadude2003

Impressive work, while it doesn't look pretty that's a pretty solid implementation of a lot of MB systems.

Definitely looks a lot better than the earlier version. The UI looks cool and the physics are pretty accurate! Even the little things like the particles that appear when you're traveling fast make the game look a lot better and the blast feature and the finish pad make the game look more like MBU. Looking forward to more!
