Hey,

I'm not sure where this post goes, but I was wondering if anyone ever considered making a web-based MB clone, a la Marble Blast Online (although I've never played that, it may have been multiplayer only, or not even web-based). I tried my hand at something here to test the PlayCanvas engine. Obviously it's not the MB killer, and there's a ton of bugs and poorly written code, but it's kind of neat. I recall seeing a Unity game on here before with the same premise, and thought the topic might garner some interest. What do you guys think about the idea?

I know Blueteak made a MB clone in Unity and had it up for a while before his hard drive died. I think this is the latest build he ever made. Jeff has tried many times to make a clone in Torque3D (you can ask him how those went), but currently nobody has really been able to replicate the MB style. Good luck if you try :)

This signature is real code
Code:
function clientcmd12dothepq() { commandToClient(LocalClientConnection, '34onthedancefloor'); }

This was it, only I saw an earlier version

I imagine the attempts didn't go well? :unsure:
I don't think I'd try to replicate it, per se, but all of the marble games I found online were kind of slow and puzzle-like, not a race against the clock like MB. Kind of surprised me that there was nothing out there.

I might develop it casually, but I'm going to hit a roadblock when I need to design levels. I don't know blender or anything.. the map right now is made out of primitives :)

Although I'm new on the forums (been playing MB for 10+ years) and have no experience with community mods/projects/levels, I do know quite a bit about Blender so I would be happy to contribute..... that is, of course, assuming there is nobody else with more experience who could help out.

heyo,

Yep, I've tried to recreate Marble Blast in both Torque3D and Unity4.3 but I have been unsuccessful after about 30 prototypes. I cannot get the physics to be like Marble Blast. If you can get the physics right, man I'd be happy and would really hope that you would throw up the code on github under a non-GPL license. :)

I am a programmer. Most here know me for being one of the major contributors to Marble Blast Platinum and PlatinumQuest.
