Eguee's First Challenge:
It's (nearly) done! Here's the first public release. I need a bit of fine tuning with the map before I submit it to LoTM.

Agility Island (7.43)

Agility Island is a short and very easy level by Eguee, a member who very recently returned to the community after having disappeared for over a year. Watch me shatter the UT of 7.95 on this run. =D

My overall impression of the level: very easy and fun; however, it is way too short for me, and there was absolutely nothing original or creative about the challenges. Jumping, rolling, and switching gravity to get a few diamonds are pretty much the only things the player has to do to beat this level. I felt that there was a lot of untapped potential here that went to waste. These factors give the level almost no replayability. I can easily see you as a great level builder, Eguee, you just need to come up with original level ideas. =)

Song used:
Boots On - Randy Houser

Enjoy! =)

Nice vid!

I played the level; my comments on it are the same as Andrew's.

Thanks guys.

Edit:
How do you add trim to a platform?

And here's my second attempt at a level. Hopefully it should be long enough, but I'm definitely willing to make changes.

Also, I need suggestions for the PT and the UT. Thanks in advance.

I made a guide for a simple platform in Torque Constructor HERE

It includes how to install Torque Constructor as well as how to make a platform with trim.

Ah, then make a new platform textured with edge_white and making sure the grid is set to 16, size it to the size of trim.

That preview looks great, eguee! Personally liked the sand area better then bouncy, but whatever.

On a side note: I hope you make the pink moving platform area a bit easier and move the triggers down so i dont have to do a wall hit to get to them.

Looking forward to the release!

You don't have to do a wall hit. If you jump just before the little ramp on each of the MPs, and then jump again on the ramp, you should have more than enough height.

Looking very good!

The second preview pic looks like it might have some texture issues. This is what you should have:
-64 unit wide grid squares (scaled to 0.5 0.5)
-16 unit wide trim (scaled to 1 1)

First Challenge was actually a quite fun and amazingly original level. There were some awesome new concepts I've never seen before and you pulled them off well!

I liked the carpet/ice area, but the GM could be skipped too easily.

The bit where the MP chased you was quite cool.

I LOVED the sand slopes, they were truly awesome.

The pink area was pretty cool, although it got a little repetitive but I liked how you were rewarded for going higher.

And the upside down maze was pretty cool, but could be easily bypassed.

Really impressed Eguee, you have a lot of potential

I mainly agree with Oaky on this one. Here's a couple things I'd fix though:

- Move the start pad block over so the ramp aligns with a tile. And I'd make it a bit steeper ramp.
- The rug is all misaligned, so select all the faces, check as one and press align to face
- The part where you can't jump...I don't like how it changes to bigger textures. I'd leave the texture size alone and make the platform smaller, and put trim on it. Take this suggestion lightly, I'm not sure how good that would look!
- The checkpoint at the end of that section is raised.
- I would have put a checkpoint at the beginning of the second sand section where there's single blocks not double blocks.
- The gray part at the end of the sand section could stay 2 tiles across until it got to the pink area, not shrunk.
- The checkpoint there......lmao
- A new texture starts at the end of the ramp leading up to the bouncy section.
- I love the MP and the bouncy section afterwards...but why did you use wood?
- The platform which the gravity maze rests on is texturally messed up (no sides align) and there isn't trim.

The biggest problem is that I couldn't find the finish, even with the LE.

Overall though, the level has a very nice feel to it. The challenges seem relatively consistent (except for the no-jumping one, which is very easy). Also, the lack of filler made it even better.

But I would change the scenery because I don't think there's enough poles for that style.

Initial score: 7.5/10

Yeah there's a lot of inconsitency's in the level and it really does fall down presentation-wise. The originality of the challenges are great, but it is only one category. Use some of Nobody's tips to fix up the visual aspect and you're good to go.

Btw Nobody, the finish is simply at the end of the maze, around to one side

In Constructor? Press 2 to go to faces mode, and on the left, you'll see a huge array of controls that deal with faces. There should be a check-box labeled as one in the middle-right of the array.

In QuArK..no clue.
