1.50 Leaderboards - GarageGames marble

davidskanal: if you are confused, use context clues to figure it out, or maybe try PMing someone instead of posting your confusion in every thread you read. MBP allows you to play levels and then get a number rating based on your time. There are ratings for both the regular marble and the larger GarageGames marble. The Leaderboards sums up your ratings across all levels and all marbles (are the GG & reg combined? I'm not sure) and lets you see your rating vs. other people's ratings. If this answered your question, don't reply.



Another factor to consider is the fact that not everyone has had access to Leaderboards play anyway. For the people who might lose a lot of rating, at least they got the opportunity at all.

@Eplipswich : It's not simply about myself when I'm saying ''hours and hours''. Look at Dushine, Xenox, m2mm4m, critico (Powerjohn25), Imperial, Hitgod, Alex, Regislian, Popokatepetl and Zaxie. Those people worked really hard for their rating and the GG Leaderboards are a big part of it. Removing it completely along with the rating would be a big disadvantage to all those who spent quite some time working on it.

Besides, I'm not only playing for the #1 rank, I'm playing for fun... and the GG marble sure is fun to play as. It controls differently and some people prefer it because it's easier to play as.

What if the top 10 (or so) players with the GG marble were given a special award that would appear next to their name in the LBs? No one else would ever be able to get that, so it would be a permanent badge for the top GG players.

If you're just playing for fun then it shouldn't matter to you then if the points and rankings are cleared. I fail to understand why you're making such a big fuss over this.

All I'm saying is keep the GG marble there because :

1) It's very fun to play with.
2) It's a big rating reward for those who actually bothered playing with it.

That's it. It's not that hard to understand.

Do the Leaderboards keep track of GG ratings separately? Is it possible to isolate the GG rating sum from the rest of the rating?

If so, then I would expand on Pablo's suggestion and basically showcase an archived GG leaderboard. So the the GG rating is removed from the official MBP rating going forward, but if you wanted to you could view the locked and permanent ratings for the GG marble in a separate view or something. That way, anyone who put in the time and effort will still get a dedicated trophy case for other players to view.

Again, I am not familiar with the Leaderboards display system beyond the tiny bit at philsempire.com

Personally don't think it should be kept, just like you shouldn't make rankings for no-gem levels, no-jumping levels, no-marble levels, no-eyes levels, no ༼ຈل͜ຈ༽ levels, etc.

Okay, from what I've read so far, I kinda changed my mind. I want the GG marble to stay in the game, just as Xelna wants it. I don't really see the point in removing the GG marble nor the ratings, a lot of players seem to like them just the way they are now.

There are hundreds of players who play MBP; keeping it in for the ratings of a few doesn't really make it a fair choice. Perhaps statistics can be kept, but for the normal marbler, it shouldn't be considered a part of the main gameplay.

Poll closes on Thursday because I can. Any more input from anyone is welcome.

Sporlo: we do keep GG on its own database (I think), so we could do an archive, but this is something to discuss with HiGuy/Jeff.

Why isn't Keep it all as is option? Are there serious problems if you just keep it as it is?

Do you even understand that 1.50 leaderboards are completly rewritten version of MBP 1.14/1.20 leaderboards now when that's cleared off the way.

I could but... it's more or less a private vote.

Just kidding. After some thought, I chose Leave it in and modify the extra levels, because I don't see that big of a need to remove the GG-marble nor the ratings for it, especially for the ones who are on the top of the ratings. And just personally, having the ability to play around with the good old GG-marble is kinda nice.

Topic and poll locked, thanks to all for voting and having a good discussion all around.

GarageGames marble will no longer appear on the Leaderboards as a large-sized marble, but as a normal marble size skin.
Offline play will continue to have GarageGames marble as a separate, larger marble.

It has not yet been decided what we will do with the GarageGames marble leaderboards or whether to award players that have previous played a lot on it, we will keep you updated regarding that.
