Noone has really done this so here's leaderboards for MBP superchallenges.

Rules are
-You must use MBP 1.50's superchallenges to time the run. Total Play time is counted as final time.
-You are allowed to fall obb but it will be counted in your final time (basically any% mistakes are allowed)
-Screenshot glitch cannot be used.
These rules are subject to change, any suggestions are wellcome! :)

How to submit your times.
Once completing certain category post image of your Total play time Here (To do that simply bind screenshot key to something you know and take screenshot when you reach last endpad, (Please note that you have approximately 1 second to do this before level get's unloaded and score dissapearing from screen). You can also add optional comment if you wish.
Video footage is also allowed and even preffered if possible.

Marble Blast Platinum

It's acceptable but not good. I made a few mistakes, most notably wasted 15 seconds on LTEH until falling off. There were a few others spread out which probably added up to another 20-30 seconds. Sub 5:30 is easily possible, sub 5 if you take some serious risks.

Reason why we don't count Total time is because it can be abused by falling obb. For example if you feel that time for specific map is gonna be bad you could fall obb and try again. But forcing no OBB would be nonsense in all advanced and 100% categories due to randomness of MB physics. I mean if tightropes won't screw you up randomly, pathways or Darwins dillema will.

So I need to make a video of myself doing it? Also don't get how the timer will work. Do I have to download something for the timer thing?

Seeing as I'm required to do a video I'll be (sadly) unable to participate in this as a video of 11 minutes will take around 5 days to upload and my comp usually crashes atl once in that amount of time.

EDIT: I also noticed that in the video of your run, you take almost no time to load the next level. Is this your computer being fast or is the video edited in some way... ?

Going to be nitpicky but I'd suggest that you simply ask players to add up their 'elapsed time' scores for their final time. MBG levels take around 3-4 seconds to load for me, so thus I would lose easily over a minute doing the intermediates because of load time.

EDIT AGAIN: Just going to put it out there that a '100% Super Challenges' leaderboard might be a better idea. It's basically exactly the same as this but doesn't involve all the video hassle.

Just to clear up compression is really good, that turotial in 720p took only 28MB which IMO is ridiciolously small, if you would record on lower quality it would be way less.

Frosty wrote: EDIT: I also noticed that in the video of your run, you take almost no time to load the next level. Is this your computer being fast or is the video edited in some way... ?

Video isn't edited, it's just my computer is pretty fast (i5 3rd gen processor + Nvidia gta 550Ti+regular hard drive)

Thanks for being picky because i really wanted to hear suggestion regarding this. So The problem with this is how can you easily time this. During my practice period I did quite a lot of runs to actually get time you see here (aprox 50ish half and full runs due to constantly changing pathways ) so checking each separate level would take loads of time and wouldn't be simple. The loading barrier could be fixed by adding average loading time for player and then remove total loading time from a run thus making competition at least a bit fair, I would be happy to implement that as I already expected that not everyone would have space age computer. Heck I'm even ready to go through each video and count total loading time. But i'm interested other peoples opinions too.

Frosty wrote: EDIT AGAIN: Just going to put it out there that a '100% Super Challenges' leaderboard might be a better idea. It's basically exactly the same as this but doesn't involve all the video hassle.

Indeed I'm highly aware of this, the thing is that system is completly different, If i remember correctly you can rerun separate maps in a single run (thus removing survival part of run) and time travelers are counted in thus removing unique gameplay element of ''time travelers loosing their meaning'' . Feel free to correct me on that.

Thanks for feedback, really appreciate it! :)

Ah wow, so OBS compresses videos like that?

And you also said:

Not quite a correction but if you implement '100% Play Time' super challenges it would be exactly the same as what you're doing here, minus the load time and needing the extra timer (thus imo better).

100% means you CAN NOT FALL OFF or else you lose and have to restart. Basically the game keeps track of 'percentage of completing runs and falling off' so 100% at the end of the super challenge means you never fell off or restarted.

The super challenge also keeps track of both 'Total Time' (inclusive of TMs) and 'Play Time' (not inclusive of TMs). If you chose to force players to do Play Time and 100% super challenges, it would be exactly what you're looking for :)

So I did some tinkering/testing and seeing as other games deal with loading times I'm removing RTA aspect, just so that this category would be more fun to run.
Also i probably wrote it strangely, but i never said mistakes aren't allowed, you are allowed to fall obb as long as it's added to total time (which indeed it does) so it seems like super challenges will do what I wanted to get from this category.
Just to note, i think theres way to get loading times faster on slower systems by using ramdisk though it's arguable if it's worth the hassle.
I will edit main post correspondingly. I doubt we will get many people to run this and I wouldn't mind keeping this category as is but seeing that theres little interest it's worth changing it around.

EDIT: edited main post. Submitting times should be possible to everyone even with slower systems.

EDIT #2: Screw it let's just make LB's for all superchallenges as they deserve it. Updating post accordingly. :)

Sweet! Excited about this as I've wanted to put some effort into speedrunning SCs for a while now but never got the go-go juice :D I'll be posting images only, as I said before, I can't upload videos.

You said before you liked my nitpicky-ness so here's just a couple things I'd suggest:

You spelled Beginner 'Begginer'. This isn't a big issue or anything but it is a category name so I just thought to make it look official it'd be nicer if it was spelled correctly.

What did you mean by Total Time? Because in SCs, it has two categories - Total Time and Play Time. Play Time does NOT include TMs, Total Time DOES.

You have 100% at the end of the categories, does this mean every level? Like beginner/inter/advanced/expert or w/e ?

I just did an experimental SC, and there's a biiig problem.

Once you finish, there's no 'Play Time' on the scores screen.

Me and my english, such a derp, that's what you get for not having english as native language. Thanks for fix though.

Regarding total and play time this is a problem but i have fix for that.
We can't really use Play time as you can fall obb if you feel run is bad enough and forcing players to do no OBB run is also complete nonsense for advanced and 100% categories. IMO even intermediate is prone of having bad RNG without some decen't practice and thoughtful pathways .
Only way to capture total time is by binding screenshot capture key to something like Q or E (if you use WASD) and when you reach last finish pad, instantly take screenshot, As i tested i saw theres like 1 Seconds delay between touching endpad and loading of next mission/ending of run which is enough to capture final Total time.
I'm gonna ask HiGuy about this though, as, if I'm not, wrong this is only issue with practice mode and Total time shows up when you play against someone.

By 100% as category i mean All levels in a game (aka golden nugget and Ultra racing). It's just term in speed running for 100% complete game so I used that.

Yeah, this would be the way to capture total Play Time. It's a decent option as well, because it's pretty easy to do as long as you're ready for it during the run.

Total time already shows up on the score results when you play practice mode, did you mean Play time?

I like the idea, we already have a few beginner/intermediate/advanced records for MBG, but they are spread out and whatnot.

I was speaking metaphrolically, they are not random but they sure are prone to mess up your runs if don't do things like they want you to do. :P For example you have tons of spin and you try landing on tight platform, if you won't stop your marble spinning in right direction perfectly then you will end up being launched off a platform and even then you may never know what will happen, ofc you learn to avoid these things over time but theres still small chance of this happening. Im not saying they are bad, i love them over any other marble physics in other games it's just have you ever had that moment when you think ''WTF just happened?'', if you have then you will probably get what i meant by ''randomness'' and why many speedrunners reference ''gg physics'' even at situations where everything could've been avoided but certainly not predicted.
