Hello guys

Here's my problem : A few days ago, I did a few things to reinstall some mods, but they all didn't work, because of my main Marble Blast gold application. I think I deleted some files from Marble Blast gold because when I open it, here's what happens :

You see that the button "play" is strange, like a windows thing, and when I click on it it crashes. Could you guys help me fixing this?
Thanks.

Lichable.

From my point of view, you may have to re-install Marble Blast or get the gui of someone else (I personally recommend re-installing)

Also remember to create a new directory for mods, away from the official Marble Blast Gold executable, as this can cause some interference which will also cause the game to crash and maybe even mess up some gui

Looks like Usermod conflict. Basically, some scripts are basically overriding the scripts/files in MBG. These scripts are compiled and stored in $USER//.Library/MarbleBlast/ (more specifically, in the folders "common" and "marble" inside this folder).

Solution: remove the folders "common" and "marble" from the path specified. Note, by removing the marble folder, you are removing "prefs.cs", which is where all your times are stored. There a possibility that it is corrupted, but it should work (the game should recreate any missing prefs), so once you remove it, put it back in "MarbleBlast/marblet/client/". This is not necessary if you don't care about or didn't have any MBG times in MBG (not MBP).

Just curious, what mods were you trying to install/remove? Most mods do not respect MBG's files (if they create a "marble" folder, they don't), so if you want to avoid corrupting MBG's files, move out the MarbleBlast folder before each conflicting mod.

Hope this helps.
~ PM

EDIT: In this case, replacing/reinstalling the MBG application itself will NOT help. You would need to fix the conflicting files as said above.

Sorry, I don't really understand what you want me to do (I don't speak very well English). What does "remove" means?

For the mods, the first one that I installed was a mod that I won't tell you the name that worked correctly. After that I tried with Reloaded but this one didn't even opened. After, I tried with Opal and Future and those two ones had the same bug that I have with my man application MBG.

Thanks for the help so far, but I really don't understand what I need to do.

Okay.
"remove" meant "take out" or "delete". I meant "take the files out of the folder and place into another folder".

You need to go to the "Library" folder. To do so:
Go to your "home" folder, which is named by your username. Try the Finder's "File" menu, and click "New Finder Window". That should open the correct folder.
To open the Library folder, open the "Go" menu in the Finder and hold the Shift key, then select "Library" and go.

Once the folder is open, there should be a "MarbleBlast" folder. Open it. There should be a few files, including a "console.log", as well as as "common" folder, a "marble" folder, probably a "platinum" or "platinumbeta" folder, and possibly other files.

To reset Marble Blast Gold:
Select the "common" and "marble" folders. Move them to a new folder. Run Marble Blast Gold. The game should run correctly now.

Your times for Marble Blast Gold are in the "marble" folder, inside the "client" folder, called "prefs.cs". If you want to restore any progress you had, just go to the folder named "MarbleBlast", then the new "marble", then "client", and delete "prefs.cs" and "prefs.cs.dso". Then, copy the original "pref.cs" file (the one you moved) into the "client" folder where you had deleted the two files. This should restore any game progress that you had.

I hope this is much clearer. :) If you still do not understand something, just ask for me to help make it clearer.

You know, I'm not totally stupid and I know how to go to the library folder ! :p But I didn't uderstand the manipulation I had to do, but now that's much clearer and I did it without any problem, and it worked. Thanks a lot! :)

Re edit : Okay now I've got another problem : When I open Marble Blast Opal, i get this message :

The message is : ChecksumDRM : fopen() failed!

I don't know why, hope ou can help me!

Note : I installed the mod correctly

Not trying to suggest you were stupid. Was just trying to make it as clear as possible. :P

However, as I was trying to say before, certain game modifications create their scripts in the same location as Marble Blast Gold does. These script files (created in the folders you removed) then interfere with Marble Blast Gold's files, and a bunch of stuff gets overridden. If you want to prevent this from happening, you would have to store the "marble/common" folder in a separate folder while you play each mod, and then store the "marble/common" folders that each mod makes in its own folder for when you play MBG. I even made a smallish script to make this process easier.

In this case, either it's a conflict with the files as just explained, or there was some hidden licensing files that are protecting from modification of the game or were removed. I'm curious to know what version of Marble Blast Gold you have (where you downloaded it from).

Try moving out the entire "MarbleBlast" folder to the Desktop, launch Opal, and tell what happens. Don't open any other Marble Blast games. Take out (or rename to something) the new "MarbleBlast" version in "Library" and move the one on your Desktop back into the Library where it belongs.

Hope this also helps.

Yeah when I had all the mods a year ago (I uninstalled them all 4 months ago, that's why I want to reinstall them), I had a "Marble Blast" folder for each of my mod in the library =)

Now for this problem, your solution doesn't works. I removed the "marble blast" folder from my library to my desktop, I opened MBO and I still got the error message, and so there wasn't any new Marble Blast folder that was created in the Library folder.

Hmm. If you "showed package contents", could you list me the files in "Contents"? It's possible the engine for your game just isn't working correctly.

Okay so first of all, I bought MBG on the Macgamestore.

So if I just do "show package contents" on my MBO, here's what I get in the content folder :

-Info.plist
-MacOs
-Pkginfo
-Resources

But if I go deeper with the .game (you may know the manipulation), here's what I get in the content folder :

-Frameworks
-Info.plist
-MacOs
-Pkginfo
-Resources

Have you ever been able to run another mod before? Could you list them, if any?

I suggest you just download Marble Blast off the site here (the original GG version, not this DRM'ed MacGameStore nonsense). Use that to install MB Opal.

I had thought suggesting that, but wasn't sure if the engine was unlocked by scripts or not. Now that I think about it, it's probably non-ignition.

Okay I downloaded it from the forums, so now i've got 2 Marble blast gold on my computer, do I need do delete the one from the Macgamestore?

But now I've got 2 problems. I downloaded first MBOpal and I installed it correctly, and when I open it, I can click on the play button so I go on the "menue" of all the levels. For the menue, I mean this :

And here, when I click on the buttons, nothings happens. I can just click on the button "home" and I return to the home page and here I can go without any problems to the help and option buttons.

My second problem is with MBspace.

It's working well but when I'm loading the levels, it's always crashing at the end of the level's loading, everytimes.

You can have both Marble Blast Gold games on your computer at the same time. Not too sure if you can run them together without doing library swapping, etc.
I assumed you kept you MarbleBlast folders in the library separate? Okay.

It is possible that there is some sort of script error. Check to make sure in the console that there are no errors. Additionally, uploading (zipped) console logs for each game would be of assistance. Before uploading the console file, type trace(1); into the console prior to where the error/crash occurs. That will give us details about the issue.

For MBSpace, it could be a bad texture that is causing the OS to throw an error, or it could possibly be an engine issue, where it decides to quit after loading.

Edit: By script error, I did intend to mean that the scripts were once again conflicting. Hence why I asked if you had kept the MarbleBlast folders separate. I meant for you to have Opal (and MBSpace) make their own MarbleBlast folders.

Well, I've never been into the console, and I don't know how to check the scripts (yeah I know, i'm a newbie).

For MBspace, i'll try to reinstall it.

But just to say, i'm going in vacation and I'm comming back in 1 month, so I may not answer after this post, or in 1 month.

Sounds like there are compiled scripts interfering with MB Opal in the MarbleBlast library directory. If you installed MBP using your MacGameStore copy of MBG, your copy of MBG should be good to go. So either you ran the MBG you just downloaded off the site before installing Opal and it created those library dso files, or another of the mods on your computer (including MB Space) included uncompiled scripts in the install, and the dso's belong to it.

For now, backup the platinum folder and any prefs.cs files in ~/Library/MarbleBlast/marble/client, delete the MarbleBlast folder, and rerun each mod and MBG one at a time until you find the one that is creating dso files in, for example, ~/Library/MarbleBlast/marble/client/scripts. Then post back here and we'll help you fix it.
