I know, this is my 3rd help topic but,
I have a Gamepad F310 from Logitech (the company that brought you the Wingman controller) and in-game with the Controller in DirectInput Mode, the x part of the right stick is not working, but not at all in XInput mode.
Anyone know a solution?
The os I'm running is in my signature.

I'm assuming your on Windows. If your are, have you made sure that you've configured the drivers for it properly and enabled the joystick in the prefs file?(marble/client/prefs.cs)
Line 89 should say this
$pref::Input::JoystickEnabled = "1"; (this enables the joystick (or in your case the gamepad))

Can't remember if MBG does this or not, but when you load up the game, go into the console [press the tilde (~) key under the escape key] to open it up. Type this in:
Code:
enableJoyStick(true);

Question, you are saying that only the "x" part of the controller doesn't work but everything else does? Maybe i read it wrong. :/

I am a programmer. Most here know me for being one of the major contributors to Marble Blast Platinum and PlatinumQuest.

I meant x as in location, a x,y grid, etc.

So if I understand this correctly, the gamepad controller works with the exception of the x-axis on the movement joystick, or is it the x-axis on the camera joystick?

Have you tried using a different USB port on your desktop/laptop to see if the controller has any different effects? I have an F310 controller and was able to successfully plug-and-play Marble Blast on a Windows 7 Laptop (without any prior driver installations for the Gamepad) and after executing the Joystick command Jeff mentioned in his post.

It's possible one of your USB slots is faulty, or the gamepad controller has a fault with the inner circuitry itself. Can you test the gamepad controller using the built-in calibration settings on Windows? Check this link if you need assistance testing and calibrating your Joystick / Gamepad device . If the calibration for your gamepad comes back good (you can interact with all buttons and calibrate the device without any issues), then it's some issue between your gamepad device and the game engine interpreting your gamepad commands. If not, then it may be the gamepad itself that has some internal hardware issue, be it the USB pins located on the inside of the USB port on the gamepad or the inner circuitry itself.

A rather simple yet sometimes effective trick that may work is to take a can of compressed air (or if you are quite daring, you could take a deep breath) and clear out some of the USB ports on your machine, as well as the USB connector for the gamepad to try and dislodge any dirt or dust that may be built up inside of these small and sensitive parts. Believe it or not, sometimes a little speck of dust on one of your USB pins can lead to some drastic usability issues, such as an X-axis on a gamepad not functioning properly.

As I said, I can confirm the F310 works with Marble Blast on Windows 7 simply by plugging the device in, launching Marble Blast, and entering enableJoyStick(true); into the console as Jeff mentioned in his post.

Hope this helps you locate the source of your issue,

Also based on my own experience one of the controller's stuff is actually never mapped in MBG properly. It's just non-existent because the configs they did at the time didn't have that 'X' thing.

The only true solution I can offer you right now is to get Joy2Key/Xpadder which are both highly recommended programs that take your controller input and convert it to keyboard by you binding the keys to a virtual keyboard. This way when you play MBG/P you will have control over all controller keys. I know of a few MBU players that did just that and even Seizure22 did it.
