King of the Hill was fun sometimes. It had its upside sand downsides.
Some of the more exciting parts about it is that games can get really intense with quite a few people on the perfect map, especially if everyone had generally the same amount of skill.
However, it had more downsides in my opinion. First off, it got pretty boring after two of three games, kind of like the old Hide and Seek mode. The level of interest really depended on what map was being played (Something like Promontory being a lot better than Ramp Matrix) and there wasn't even any competition if you had players with very different levels of skill.
Mega Marble Wars is a lot more fun in my opinion. Despite the fact that it can be incredibly satisfying to whack someone upside his head with your giant marble, a lot of skill and tricks come to use, like doing the mega marble launch with a high friction surface, or using a super speed in addition to your mega marble to get more points. The games also move a lot faster and sometimes you really have to use your brain and read other people to increase your scores.
There's also no way you can't dislike playing Mega Marble Wars on Eye of the Storm. Oh. My. God.
Tl;dr? Going with Kalle on this one. King of the Hill is undoubtedly less fun than Mega Marble Wars in my opinion.

Lookie what I found. No points, 10 lives, and a small map. (And squeakers. Ew.)

So yeah, I made the Mega Marble Wars, though I played it like once ever with HiGuy and that's about it. Hide and Seek was hilarious on 3FM and was a good test map, and KotH I have some faint memories for it.
Also I made BFinale... oh wait that is shit that I am responsible for, nevermind.

This can be a thing with minimal extra code btw. Is there actually desire for it?

I would contribute a couple levels to the cause, probably even one with a new interior
