Hey folks,

Below is a list of changes that went live with this morning's maintenance.

  • Fixed a bug on the Website Profile page that was using the Username in the "Name" field instead of the Display Name. The Name field now shows the exact username you will see in-game or in webchat for the user's profile you are viewing.
  • Increased the number of Posts listed in the Recent Posts module on the home page to 10 (up from 7).
  • Updated the Webchat Button in the top navigation menu to point to the new Webchat client. The old webchat module has been disabled.

The new webchat is much better. Is this like a new thing for the turn of the month or something?

This is the best website update in a while, thanks a lot Aayrl and whoever also helped. :)

I love the a lot more attractive-looking webchat page, especially the absence of the external scroll bar, so it is a lot more easier to scroll through previous messages without changing the chat position. :) I also appreciate the consistency with the online chat applied to the userlist, so that they are listed according to the type of user and alphabetical order. (The previous userlist used the order of login which was bizarre. :P) Most importantly, I was overjoyed when I saw that messages sent from webchat and online are synchronized or whatever you call it (e.g. when you have both open, and you type a message in the online chat, it also appears in webchat.) I complained this to higuy many times and am glad that it is finally fixed. :P

Awesome. I do believe I inspired the webchat update as I had been using the old one without knowing the new one existed for ages, lol

Just to make it clear, HiGuy was in charge of designing and implementing the entirety of the new Webchat client, so major props to HiGuy for all of his hard work. It's still in its Beta stage and still has a handful of bugs, but we decided to transition to the new client on the website navigation to ensure users are actively using the new client and reporting these outstanding issues to us. The old webchat client was very buggy and thrown together at the last minute - this one was designed to be more stable and user friendly.

Bravo HiGuy! One thing I would like though-- Webchat doesn't work on the Mac Desktop I sometimes use. It just says "disconnected from chat" every time. That Mac is OS X 10.6, btw. My other mac is OS X 10.9.

guys, on the new webchat, you can make it more "night friendly" by typing this command:
Code:
/skin black

enjoy!

Why would you go through the trouble of making a night theme and then not even make a button for it? Just saying...

Webchat doesn't work on my iMac G5 either, with Mac OS X 10.4.11, but it's not much of an issue, and I doubt it can be fixed.

This is my contribution to the webchat (I yelled at higuy to implement it)

You may have an old version of Safari that doesn't support the type of Web Sockets that the webchat uses. With which version are you finding the error?

This signature is real code
Code:
function clientcmd12dothepq() { commandToClient(LocalClientConnection, '34onthedancefloor'); }

Nope... looks like 7.1 should be supported. Try using it now though, I've added a websocket shim that should replicate the functionality.

Oh yeah... Safari on my eMac (v4.1.2, Tiger) didn't work with websockets properly (that issue was never fixed...), but Safari on 10.9.5 works just fine.

Firefox is faster than Google Chrome. ;) Those ads are outdated. Plus, FF is much more extensible. I don't even think ABP on Chrome even stops the ads from loading...
