"As we all know, it died due to lack of decent level creation. So, I decided to release all that I can so the community can have some fun with it, and maybe make something" ~Trace, Lead Designer of MBReloaded.
Marble Blast Reloaded started out as a very different and interesting mod which quickly grabbed the community’s attention, but quickly swept into death. It had little staff and they had no time for it. Eventually it released as a level pack, but due to community pressure it was updated to become an incomplete mod for Marble Blast Gold.
Reception to Marble Blast Reloaded is poor. Nearly no one played it, it had numerous bugs and errors in early releases which prevented people from playing (most recent one works properly), and had very few levels. Nonetheless, it does have good textures, skybox and scenery and music.
Known bugs and problems:
The level ‘Skill Use’ requires a teleporter in order to beat it properly. Players can use a Super Jump instead.
The level ‘Hazardous Fun’ is impossible to beat as it requires a teleport.
A number of levels in the OLD section may give a disconnect package error. This can be fixed by modifying the mission file’s skybox to point to a proper .dml file.
The user interface is very big. You must play at a resolution of 1280x800 or higher in order to fully see it.
Marble Blast Opal went through many problems during its production. Staff kept quitting whilst they also produced several other mods. Marble Blast Opal was eventually released when its main developers wanted to work on Marble Blast Emerald 2 rather than Opal, and they no longer cared for this mod. Many of its features were removed as they were not fully functional.
Marble Blast Opal contains a number of new features and powerups, such as marble resizing and a trail particle powerups. Additional abilities to change in-game preferences of gravity and marble recoil were introduced, thus changing the way the levels are played. Collectibles such as ‘Cash’ items are spread throughout some of the levels.
Reception to Marble Blast Opal was poor due to its many bugs, hard levels, missing interiors for some levels, and lack of ability to launch the game for non-ignition users. Players who did manage to play commended Marble Blast Opal for its scenery, textures, sounds and features.
This mod is pretty difficult, so it is recommended for more advanced players only.
Known bugs and problems:
Non-ignition users will not be able to launch this mod normally. You can get around it by copying ignitionGui.gui.dso, ignitionStatusGui.gui.dso, presentsGui.gui.dso, productionGui.gui.dso and titleGui.gui.dso into the marbleclientui directory. If you do not have ignitionGui.gui.dso, please contact one of the staff members of this website.
You cannot bind the button ‘E’ as it’s used to pop up level descriptions.
Tutorial Level 3 cannot be qualified by beating Tutorial Level 2. You have to enable test-cheats ($TC=1; in this mod, or alternatively use the cheats button). Please be aware at this point your times will not be recorded.
Marble Blast Future was released after its leader, Beack, had gone missing for a very long time. This mod is incomplete as it does not have as many features or levels as originally planned. This can be seen through the remanent of Marble Blast Gold’s sounds, text and interface.
Marble Blast Future was well received in the community and is a recommended download. Many liked the scenery, textures, soundtrack and levels. The only let down was the spelling and grammar of the mod, for example the level ‘Bump’ said in it’s start help text: “Beware to fall into the holes!”. Lack of features did not help its longevity and Marble Blast Future is now often forgotten about.
"At long last, through blood and laziness, MBA is finally out and it will kick ass! Get ready to push your skills to the max. MBA contains challenging levels for the advanced players and of course there will be a few levels for the more novice. Unfortunately if you're novice MBA is gonna be challenging." ~CyberFox, Lead Designer, MBA.
Marble Blast Advanced was inspired by the success of Marble Blast Platinum. It has been in the works for over two years, but sadly lack of contribution and time from its staff meant that it faded out with very few features inbuilt. It was eventually scheduled for release as-is in 2009, but again lack of time meant that only in September 2010 it released, becoming the second ever "full-mod" to be released to the public. Reception has been generally positive.
Marble Blast Advanced offers a variety of levels, from short and fun to long and challenging. Skills players often need to use are diagonal movement and spin control, so these are recommended to understand before tackling this mod. Likewise, lack of checkpoints means that players should be well experienced with Marble Blast.
Marble Blast Advanced had never received further support (except a hotfix within days of release), but works on both Windows and Mac. At this time of writing, only 6 custom levels were ever made for Marble Blast Advanced. Nonetheless, Marble Blast Advanced is still a recommended download for those who want a fresh new look for Marble Blast.
Started back on January 2009, Marble Blast Plus was a little known mod that did excite those who did know about its existence, mainly thanks to YouTube videos. It modified some of the basic content, probably more than other dead mods, going as far as even adding collectable items (think of an Easter Egg of sorts). Most of the time it didn't have any progress, rearing back into production during certain points, but eventually collapsed in 2012.
Thanks to Martin5656565 (leader) giving permission to Alexis (co-leader), we are now proud to present to you this incomplete mod for download.
We gave this mod a run and we like it. The music and sound effects are pretty good, the scenery is nice and the gameplay is solid, although slightly difficult. The biggest thumbs up is almost 50 playable levels, which is far more content than most other mods that died.
Known bugs and problems:
The level 'Underwater' will cause a lower gravity effect for all other levels due to the effects being kept post-game. Quit the game and start it again.
Some levels will be listed as 'Not Qualified'. Press the invisible bottom right corner to unlock the next level (much like MBG).
Started by Whirligig in 2011, Project Dragon was a mod that attempted to bring a more story-like feel to Marble Blast, with a basic plot that its levels followed. Unlike other mods, Project Dragon contained a hub world from which the player can play any of the levels to which they have access. The hub is broken up into two "worlds" (with future worlds planned but never completed), with different themes. Each world has a few levels which you can play by entering teleport pads.
Although there are still gems to collect, the main goal of every level is to collect a chunk of "Marbelium" at the end. The player is given a finite number of lives in which to complete the game, although collecting enough gems will award the player with another life. There is now a health system; touching mines or other hazards will drain your health. If you run out of health, you lose a life. If you lose your last life (after life 0), you are shown a "Game Over" screen; however, this does not reset any of your progress.
Known bugs/limitations:
The hub world does not have a bounds trigger. If you fall off the hub, you must exit to the main menu and restart it.
Collision with other marbles is buggy and broken at times.
Game crashes will wipe all progress before the last quit.
The Tall Towers Gem Challenge crashes when loaded.
Mac edition of Marble Blast STOP. Marble Blast STOP is one of the first full-release mods developed since July 2011; not counting Marble Blast Powered Up that was released in 2013. This new mod in the last 24 hours has recieved 108 Downloads. That's huge in one day! There may-or-may-not be a second version of Marble Blast STOP coming... The world may never know.
