Marble Blast 2D was created by blueteak
Was recovering from a physics exam this afternoon, and decided to try to make a game, ended up with a (my opinion obviously) neat little platformer to mess around with while we wait for jeff to stop being lazy wait patiently for the 1.5 beta.

The current map (which I spent 5 mins creating in photoshop) has everything you want to see in a MB map:
Moving platforms, Loops, Wall hits, Tightropes (Ok, not tightropes...)

Here are a few screenshots:
Moving platforms

Loops

Wall Hits

Controls:
WSAD/Arrows - Move
Space - Jump
R - Reset

And, of course, here is the link to play.

I give up at 38.28
IT'S SO ADDICTING BUT SOOOO HARD AAAAAH. I have a good path, but every time I screw up just a tiny bit, it ends up being a complete fail because I'm not used to the physics yet.

We will continue to add levels to the game when we can, it is a fairly time consuming process atm, and hopefully we will be able to streamline the pipeline in the future. However I am also working on fixing physics and adding new features (One in particular that will dramatically increase the games leaderboard system) which takes a significant amount of time where you won't see anything different until it happens.

But I'm really glad everyone is having fun with it, and we don't plan on stopping development any time soon.
I'll make sure to post in shout box when a new level is added.

I'm wondering, what exactly is the process for creating a level? You said you made one in photoshop, so does the game interpret the whole level from the picture or is there more steps? I'm guessing there are.

Ya, The maps are 2D images, where pixels are geometry and the alpha map is open space. When I import the image, I do so as a large sprite, then apply a polygon-collider. So in that sense, yes, the game interprets the picture as one big level.

However, it is not very precise, and I end up with about 300-400 vertices for the collision mesh, where I need more like 500-700 for smooth curves etc, that is where the majority of the work comes in, adjusting the mesh to make it playable.

Luckily I can just move the mesh vertices around in real time so it's just a bit of a grind to get the map looking nice and feeling right.

But if there are other things like moving platforms or bouncy floors, I have to add those in as well, since there is no way to tell a picture to add a moving platform here or change friction for a certain color (yet ). So the difficulty of the level process just depends on how big and complex the level is.

Almost every time I finish Quick Change the finished level screen doesn't pop up and the ball just slowly falls down. My times don't save either when this bug happens so I ended up getting a 10 and it didn't get saved to the leaderboards. not sure if this happens in any of the other levels but this bug should be fixed because it would suck to have an amazing time on The Long Way Back Up be lost because of this bug.

Thanks for the info, I'll look into it to see why it might happen. That's a terrible bug and I'll try to get it fixed asap.

Edit: Fixed the problem, the reason was that once you had 5 times saved, it didn't update with a new best score (and quit trying to do anything else, like open up the Win-Menu) correctly. This has been fixed, and while you can't get that old score back, your older times are safe.
