Yo.

End of the month, but I finally got around it, I'm making levels now. Probably for the long run maybe? Depends if I find time.
The first few sets are going to be a learning experience, that's granted. It'll be a while before I find my footing with this. That's why this thread exists, so you can worm in and tell me what I did was dumb or stupid. The more you guide me, the better I get!

Everything will be compiled in this post, you'll find the download in here and in Marbleland, whatever you think is easier.

Anyways here's Dumb Platform:
Warning: Spoiler!

Yo.

New level! You never thought I'd come up with something by today did you? Probably.
Who cares, here's Dumber Platform:

Description: Alright seriously? What is this? Amateur hour?
Gold Time: 00:10.250

Another unassuming platform. Great! That's exactly what we need right now, another Dumb Platform. How the hell are we supposed to finish this without a finish pad anyways? Not my problem, you can easily figure this one out.
Constructor was being quirky during the making of this level, glad that's over with.

Yo.

Yes. There is more.
Here's Dumbest Platform:

Description: There's more?! Let's hope this is the end, my brain can't handle this anymore.
Gold time: 00:22.250

It can't get any dumber than this. What gimmick is this one gonna have? Gravity modifiers? Whatever, just roll with the punches, this will be the last time we'll see these Dumb Platforms.
You can find a secret in this level, though if you want it, you'll have to ignore the objective at hand.

Note: The Marbleland Mirror is slightly different from the original upload. If you play on PQ, it won't make a difference if you download either versions.

I really like this series! It's so simple, but charming and definitely threw me off. Also the level names are great. "Dumb" is my favorite word. Can't wait to see what else you make!

Thanks! I have a few things planned outside of this series. This is still a learning process for me, it'll be a bit before I find my style.

I'm wondering if you have any feedback so far? I know there isn't much to go off of yet, but I've been concerned about whether Im making the Gold times too restrictive or, atleast in Dumbest Platform's case, the Easter Egg too vague to solve.

Anything beyond this is appreciated and will help me understand how to approach level-making.

Sounds like a solid plan! I remember when I started making levels, the first few were pretty rough, but it's all about learning and improving as you go. Don't worry about getting everything perfect right away; it's the process that matters. I’d suggest sharing your progress often so people can give you feedback, it really helps speed things up. Just keep pushing through and refining as you go, you’ll get the hang of it before you know it!

Well, I must admit I didn't actually try to get the Gold Times or the Easter Egg. But I hope you just experiment more with level-building, and you don't necessarily have to have your own "style", as long as you're enjoying what you're making. One suggestion I'd have is to not restrict yourself to Constructor, as it's quickly becoming obsolete in the face of newer and more stable level-building programs.

Appreciate the feedback so far. Maybe calling it a style implies I have to be narrow about certain things, which isn't my intention. The word I should've used is "work flow"

That's pretty much the plan after I'm done with a level I'm building on Constructor. I want to move into trying out Blender or Trenchbroom since that would be relatively easier to work with compared to Constructor.

My process with working on a project is to share aspects of it rather than anything general, I assume that's the intent of your feedback. I don't really like showing what Im working on because I end up abandoning it afterwards, I end up finding myself having to dedicate most of my time to my revealed project rather than explore a new idea. I guess its a habit of mine to refrain myself from sharing anything blunt, but rather what's necessary with the intention of receiving feedback or showing an aspect of my level.
