Sorry for bumping, but this isn't locked or anything...

Can we have a new custom levels pack for the leaderboards? We have a buttload of custom levels out already, why not see what people can actually do with them?

EDIT: This post used to be on the MBP 1.50+ Requests thread, but it was moved to a new updated thread.

Funny timing but regi and I were discussing possibly a new type of tournament for the future (autumn?) which would be made loads better with new levels, and they would need to be on the lbs.

I was thinking of a multiplayer co-op mode. That was what I envisioned multiplayer adding, but it never happened. You could also have the option to go in a singleplayer level and view all the other people playing it.

OK, time for some more suggestions.

[strike]1. Like in PQ, when you get a TM in MBG and MBP, "-T" (T represents the TM bonus) appears above your marble, if you get a negative TM, "+T" will appear instead. I think this idea has been already implemented by the development team.[/strike]

2. MBG levels should use MBG dts shapes, textures, interiors, powerup names, game mechanic names, etc., MBU levels should also use that stuff used in the Xbox 360 version.

Even more suggestion.

Because the second suggestion in my last post of this thread has already been implemented, the custom level folder should be separated by game mode, (e.g. MBG custom levels in the MBG custom level folder).

As a request, I want the return of the teleporter sound effect!

Thought about this at one point and instantly decided against it when I realized:
  • Most people on the LBs wouldn't use it (some don't even have microphones)
  • Many people on the LBs would be offended by it (I know we have some ... interesting characters, combined with 9-year olds, not a good thing)
  • It would be a significant amount of work to implement

This signature is real code
Code:
function clientcmd12dothepq() { commandToClient(LocalClientConnection, '34onthedancefloor'); }

So...implement a feature so we can all disable it? I don't follow the logic here...

(Literally sitting in my bed with my device on my lap at 4 in the morning trying to think of awesome new features...)
  • Let's get a few more taunts. I was thinking PQ should have a "Platinum steeeaaaallll!!" taunt since they're twice as better as blues.

  • Duplication command (Ctrl-D?) for the level editor. It's basically just Copy/Cut and Pasting and pasting the object in the same place as the object you cut/copied without having to adjust the position first.

  • We need more interiors in the level editor. Sure, you can make your own or download some. But I mean interiors that would polish a level, meaning having good trim, and customizable pathways that look professional and that kind of thing. Example idea is a 1x1 trim interior.

  • MORE GAMEMODES!!!! People are getting bored of King of the Hill and Collection already. They're nice implements to the game, but there just needs to be more. I believe there's a "New Gamemodes Idea Topic" somewhere on the forums with awesome suggestions.

  • Maybe some more decorations. Decoration is nice in a lot of different ways. I'd like to see what sorts of decoration MP could have. I thought the Christmas Lights in Bowl (first level that came to mind) was a fantastic idea. I never would've come up with something like that.

  • It's annoying sometimes to get achievements. It's even more annoying when you're working on an achievement and you haven't realized yet that you have already gotten the achievement. Add in an achievement alert, and maybe even a "Close to Being Finished" feature in the achievements tab. Showing Achievement progress we'd be kind of cool.

  • Following Ralph's idea of the Teleporter sound return:
Yes. Yesyesyesyesyesyes. I'd love to have a Teleporter sound. It just doesn't really have the full effect without any sound. I'd like the old one back, but I'm interested to see what some new sounds could be like.

  • The firework show is getting kind of boring. It's the same thing almost every time. Either make a new one entirely, or make a bunch of new ones and have the ability to change what firework shos plays in whichever level.

  • I love the feature in some mods where it will show what time is still achievable, whether if it's the Ultimate Time, or the Par Time, or whatever. It would just be helpful to have. Maybe it could even show what time the Ultimate/Par/whatever time was as well.

  • Maybe the ability of practicing multiplayer in singleplayer offline? This is not really helpful in very many ways, but it would certainly help out for level building.

  • Example Missions for every gamemode in the game. Mini crappy Hide and Seek course? :3

  • There are already multiple 1x1 trim interiors that you can find by rooting through the CLA, I've used them before in LE levels. One of the NervesOfSteel interiors is a 1x1 trim, just to get you started.

Isn’t the next version going to be 1.60 though?
I totally agree with Rozi on the achievement progress and obtainment. If one could log in to MBP online, maybe a little notification would pop up or something telling which achievements one was close to obtaining.

There isn't a lot I can think of for improvements, but I have a few:

Achievement Progress would be a nice cosmetic timesaver, although not essential (there aren't a huge proportion of achievements that involve beating a certain single level under a certain time) however I see it being more useful for MP achievements

New custom level pack would be nice (we have the levels for it) although very few have beaten all/a high proportion of levels. The only way I see more added is for an SP tournament.

Another thing would be to show total time across all customs and total time per pack a la the official leaderboards show (for MBG/P/U).

I currently dont see any point requesting new game modes right now, considering Co-op, but maybe they could be considered in the future (?)

I thought cntrl D was a drop command, that would drop a selected interior at the camera?

also, I made a useful interior pack (that nobody uses :c) that you might find interesting. Its at my level thread

  • There hasn't been such a request from anyone in past so i'm not shure if it's even worth the effort to code such feature. also do what Threefolder said above, same thing with extra keystorke.

    Rozi wrote:

  • There allready is a bunch of interiors in stock mbp (which where all used to make first levels of MBP back in 2007-2010) and most people still use them now.

  • The problem is, first of all it takes quite some time to code a gamemode, second of all: is it worth the effort? Personally I think koth gamemode doesn't really fit into marble game thus it isn't played much. Collection works well but then again after it's release it wasn't played much. So is it worth making more gamemodes. Before we even make a gamemode we have to ask ourselves weather the gamemode will be fun to play and weather it will work out correctly. Currently we have no plans on adding any other gamemodes appart from co-op since we have more important things to focus on. This may change in future though.
It's not about quantity, it's about quality of gamemode we add.

  • You can do this by hosting your own private server with 1 player (which is you), same with testing levels AND it won't take any more computer resources than it allready does now in SP.

  • Check the existing levels, theres plenty of those that you can take base from.

Anything else that I didn't adressed from Rozi's post is propably not that important right now since were focusing on other more important things (and surprizes ofc)

I would also like a feature like this, but I was thinking of something more like shift+LMB and dragging an axis, just like in Constructor.

An option in the editor to turn snapping on and off as well as setting the size of the snapping would be nice too, especially if the gizmo's sensitivity issue was fixed.

Push Alt+7 to change to Drop at Origin, and then just ctrl+c and ctrl+v to basically do the same thing.

In the editor, go to Edit -> World Editor Settings. You can play with all sorts of values.
