This update is scheduled to begin immediately and continue up until November 30th, 2017.
Any further submissions beyond that will NOT be accepted.
Please note Marble Blast Gold's WRR may be started towards the end of this rampage's submission duration, which may take some focus out of it.
RULES:
You can record either OFFLINE or ONLINE*.
Screenshot glitching or other forms of lagging your game are BANNED. Checkpoint respawn button (to quickspawn) is ALLOWED.
Powerup/Gravity abusable Checkpoint and/or Respawn and/or Restart glitches are BANNED.
Every other glitch is ALLOWED unless it was unintended by the developers. Please discuss before attempting runs using those glitches as they may be banned.
*see video recording guidelines
SUBMITTING RECORDS:
- When submitting records, you must submit to THREE decimal places.
--> If you submit to TWO decimal places, then the third one will automatically be assumed as a 9, and be listed as such.
--> If you improve 3rd decimal place, e.g. 1.239 to 1.230, your run MAY be rejected. However doing 1.22X will be accepted.
--> If it is your own improved run on the 3rd decimal place, it will be ACCEPTED.
--> An EXCEPTION is a faster overall time and/or a more entertaining run. Examples: Xelna's scaffold with edge hits, or a level with less time bonus used. You must match or beat the previous time, though.
- Date if recording is NOT required.
- You must submit the way you want to appear in the rampage. Choose one of these three examples:
--> Learning to Roll – 1.23 – Matan ‘IsraeliRD’ Weissman
--> Learning to Roll – 1.23 – Matan Weissman
--> Learning to Roll – 1.23 – IsraeliRD
-> Lack of the above will default to your username only.
Rather than keep in this topic all submitted records, there's a community spreadsheet that is kept at this link (click here yo).
It is expected that Matan and the maintainers of this spreadsheet will ensure that Matan has the latest videos, is kept up to date and nothing is missing.
It is expected of Matan to maintain at least one full copy of the World Record Rampage of the original and/or edited files.
VIDEO RECORDING GUIDELINES:
Unless you have a good reason, you MUST USE PlatinumQuest's inbuilt recording system (.rrec).
--> If you recorded your video BEFORE PlatinumQuest's release, then it is fine and will NOT be rejected.
If recording Online, please note that the .rrec is automatically sent to the Marble Blast servers and Matan can easily grab it.
However you MUST ensure you have a backup .rrec and/or video as a local copy.
If using the inbuilt recording system (.rrec), you can disregard all of the stated guidelines below.
If NOT using .rrec, you MUST conform to the following:
- Resolution: 1920x1080.
--> 1280x720 is allowed if you can't handle 1920x1080 for whatever reason. You need permission first, don't assume you can.
--> Be aware that we prefer 16:9 resolution, or something close that can be translated to 16:9. Do not use wacky resolution formats.
--> 4:3 resolution videos will be REJECTED.
- Texture Quality, Marble Reflection, Post Processing, Material Quality and Anti Aliasing: Your choice. The more advanced the settings, the better, though!
- Max FPS: 60 fps. 30fps is allowed if you have a good reason. Any higher FPS is allowed only if your recording is outputted at 60fps and not higher.
- Particles: 100. You may use higher/lower with permission.
- FPS Counter: OFF
- Increase Contrast: Your choice
- Thousandths: Enabled
- Help Triggers: Enabled
- FOV: Your choice
- Max Radar Items: Not applicable
- If online: CANNOT SHOW LEADERBOARDS CHAT
- Audio: Doesn't matter. Custom music is used in the rampage.
- MUST finish with at least 3 seconds of the full end-game screen with your top 5 times.
- NO PARTYING
If .rrec is sent, then Matan will record the .rrec for you. It will use highest possible settings. Please specify the FOV you want the video to be recorded on if you don't want 90 to be used.
VIDEO RECORDING SOFTWARE:
Please be aware that almost all video recording programs require the same computer performance. Here is a quick list of video recording software:
FRAPS, Bandicam, HyperCam, Screenflow, OBS (free and recommended), ShadowPlay (Nvidia 600 GeForce series and above, recommended).
Note: Some video recording software have watermarks/logos embedded on their videos. Videos submitted with those will be REJECTED.
If recording by yourself, raw video output is preferred. Yes, it will be a few gigabytes in size (assuming a single run was done in that video).
SUBMITTING VIDEOS GUIDELINES:
- .rrec is the preferred format.
- AVI is preferred output. DIVX, MP4, MKV, MOV are all compressed formats and are NOT raw video. Their quality is therefore worse by default. See below for further notes on those.
- Upload .rrec OR video to: Google Drive (15GB free), DropBox (2GB free).
- After you uploaded the .rrec OR video, send the link to Matan through a Direct Message on either the Marble Blast Website, Discord.
Alternatively, send the download link to marbleblastforums@gmail.com , but please let us know of that.
You may also contact either Kalle29 or Regislian and send them a link and they will forward it to Matan.
SUBMITTING SELF-ENCODED VIDEOS GUIDELINES:
Self-encode only if you are able to. It is advisable not to do so.
- Unless there is a good reason, you cannot record .rrec yourself. You
- You must follow the video recording and subimtting guidelines. No exceptions.
- Minimum bitrate: 10,000 kbps
- Video must be 60fps or higher.
Most encoding programs give you 30fps, but there are free programs that give 60fps, which is why it is restricted to it.
Sony Vegas is recommended for 60fps. Free ones include OBS and ShadowPlay. Self-encoded videos should be outputted as .mp4 and are 60fps if you record as such. Free encoding programs exist such as SDA's own encoding program, Yua, and the ever-popular HandBreak.
- NO WATERMARKS / LOGOS. Instant REJECT if you have those.
SUBMITTING A QUALITY TEST VIDEO:
AVI, MP4, MOV, MKV, DIVX AVI are accepted. If you submit MP4/MOV/DIVX/MKV please make a 10 second test video and send it to me so I can see whether I can re-encode properly. If I can then you can use the settings you have used for all your videos. If you use anything else e.g. MPEG-2, you must pass the quality test.
Filsize doesn’t matter. I have a plethora of disk space.
Compiled video, by Matan, will be offered in 1080p60. Future re-encodes will upscale to 2k and 4k resolutions with 60fps.
"matan, now i get what you meant a few years back when you said that "the level in mbg is beyond me" after the last rampage i noticed things were insane, and now i truly feel that too" - Dushine, 2015.
