Hello once again,

I am writing an additional post as a form of follow-up to my previous support ticket, in which I detailed my issues with running PQ following the website going down earlier this year (though I don't believe the events are necessarily related). What I have been able to evaluate is that PQ version 2.9.2, the update released in early April, has never worked for my personal system configuration, and it seems that W11 has generally had issues running on the new version of PQ.

I have attempted to run PQ on other systems that are not mine, and found that a laptop in my family running W11 is still capable of launching the game and running it just fine, though it is a rather old version (v2.6.1 if I recall correctly). Still, I think that this demonstrates that Windows 11 systems are capable of running PQ, at least until a point in development. Let it be noted that I have not attempted to update the game on that system, as it is currently the only method through which I can play PQ.

I am wondering if any potential new updates are going to come to the game, and if they aim to resolve this issue, or if there is further research and manipulation required, if not just a total halt in compatibility for W11. I have attached all of my crash report files from my various attempts to launch the game in order to provide support to the developers on understanding the nature of this issue, and wish them the best of luck in working on the game.

I have always enjoyed playing PQ since I found out about it, and would be happy to be able to play it again.

Best,
periwinkl

Hello,
Thanks for all the measurements, I have examined the crash logs and unfortunately all of them have a pretty identical cause with most of the reports we have received regarding this specific issue.
We have only determined that some Windows 11 computers are unable to run PQ, it does not seem to correlate to a specific Windows 11 version but its pretty sporadic and sometimes even a Windows Update breaks the game (as well as fixes it!).
However, we are working on a major change that makes the game be more compatible on the modern hardware and OS and crash less due to those kinds of bugs. It may take some time for it to be implemented but you will be notified via a PQ update.
Thanks

I know I'm late, but I just wanted to post an update here that most Windows 11 crashes should be fixed as of PlatinumQuest 2.9.3, which released on 2024-10-27 (the current version is 2.9.4). A huge thanks to RandomityGuy, as he figured out that it is actually the crash reporter itself which caused most of the crashes! The major update still hasn't released yet, but you should at least have the stability of this fix until it does.
