To put it simply, I was playing MB Powered Up last night when it suddenly crashed. I hit re-open when the crash window popped up, and I think it re-opened MBG by accident instead. After I quit the application I went back to MBG to find that it wouldn't open back up, no matter how many times I double click it. MB Powered Up is fine, but MBG just will not open anymore.

How long does the icon persist (or bounce) in the dock? Does initialization occur, and if so, how long is there a visible window? Do you have other MarbleBlast Gold copies you can try running to test to see if it works?

(more)

Here are some facts I'd like to point out. For one, MarbleBlast on Mac OS X, when you click Reopen, has in the past for me caused MarbleBlast to launch with default settings. I'm not sure how it actually works, but it seems MarbleBlast (maybe??) ignores files such as the Library and executes with less "stuff" which may potentially bog down (and crash) MarbleBlast. I've noticed, for MBP 1.20, that it would suddenly be able to get the MotD, as if it had won a race condition. That said, it may not have played well with MarbleBlast Powered-Up's "launcher", an executable which is normally invoked to provide some support. Something unusual coming as a result of this may in turn affect MBG. I'd have to look into that more, if that were the case.

HiGuy is also correct, but a DSO instantly crashing MBG would be rather peculiar.

It would assist us if you could possibly zip and upload a copy of the MarbleBlast folder present in the Library. Even though MBPU shouldn't be writing to the Library anymore, the fix he used to stop MBPU from writing there could have bugged. Maybe another mod could have as well. When was the last time MBG successfully ran?

Do you have any .dso files in <home directory>/Library/MarbleBlast/ (Finder -> Go Menu -> Go to Folder -> "~/Library/MarbleBlast" without quotes)? They may have been created by MBPU, and cause issues with MBG. As well, what appears in the console.log there?

This signature is real code
Code:
function clientcmd12dothepq() { commandToClient(LocalClientConnection, '34onthedancefloor'); }

I got rid of every single dso within that Marble folder in the library, and that seemed to have fixed it, thank you.
How can I prevent this from happening again? Or did this only happen because MBPU crashed and I hit Re-open by mistake?

Probably because you hit Reopen. Reopen does weird things, and Mac OS X seems to know when an app was reopened that way.

So if I avoid hitting the re-open button if it crashes again, will that keep it from creating those files again?

It should. You could try seeing if it breaks again when it crashes again, both with and without clicking "reopen" to see it that was the cause.

I'm a little hesitant to recreate the problem again, but if it does crash again by accident I'll see what happens.
I do believe that solves my problem, so thank you for that.

Actually, I'm going to flag this as resolved as the issue is fixed, but I will leave the topic open for a bit more in case he has more problems.

I am a programmer. Most here know me for being one of the major contributors to Marble Blast Platinum and PlatinumQuest.
