Some objects (gems, finish sign, tops of bumpers) are completely transparent. How do I fix this?

copy this

$pref::environmentmaps=0;

and start the game (don't go online). Open the console and paste that into it, then press enter, that should fix it.

This is a confirmed solution to this issue. It should also be noted that the issue of diamonds "losing their color" after moving a certain distance away from the diamonds is also fixed by setting that preference value to 0 (as shown above). (This primarily affects Mac users, as far as I know.)

Also, hold down Ctrl, Fn (if present) and press F12. That should save the change to disk, so you do not have to enter it again if you crash.

Please post back if this works for you!

It isn't transparency, It's just the game trying to mimic reflections with a small image of the sky box. The reason objects can go fully reflective if you are too far away, (I think) is because it stops rendering textures on objects to speed the game up, and so the reflections take over.

What is imaged is called an environment map, or a static cube map. It is simply the sky box texture being blended into the diffuse texture. If the diffuse texture doesn't have transparency, then the result is shown what you get, 100% opacity on the environment map texture. The game does not stop rendering the texture, both are being rendered. Looks can be deceptive, especially with graphics programming =).

I am a programmer. Most here know me for being one of the major contributors to Marble Blast Platinum and PlatinumQuest.

I think that this problem happened to Pascal on April 4th, 2015, whilst he was participating in the full MBP race.
