Hey community,

I just got a new laptop and mpb runs beautifully with the graphics btw.
So the issue is that I can't use poweups, the arrow keys, and my inbuilt touchpad, while moving unless I release all of WASD.
Please let me know if this if fixible.

Thank you!

Hi George,

I have heard of this issue before, though I've never personally seen it. Since you mentioned you were using a new laptop, it's possible there's a factory setting configured with your touchpad driver which disables mouse inputs while certain keys are pressed (generally referred to as Touch Guard or PalmCheck).

Though the particular steps may be slightly different depending on your laptop manufacturer, the process should be relatively the same. Please check out This Tutorial on how to check if PalmCheck is enabled, and where to disable said functionality and report back if this either resolves your issue or the issue persists - I'm willing to bet there's some software which disables the mouse while keys are pressed.

Another thing you can try - Pop open another game (Minecraft seems to be a popular choice) and see if the issue is persistent outside of MBP 1.70. This will at least rule out any issues arising from the latest MBP update (I sincerely doubt any changes made in this update would effect mouse/keyboard input..)

Best,
~Aayrl
