I remember that when I was first getting into Marble Blast back in 2008, I had some weird assumptions about the game, mostly because I had never really played video games before (I was 6). For instance, I thought that you needed to beat KotM in order to unlock the level editor. Also, I thought that if you made it to the bottom of Dive, you would get to explore the lake below every MBG level without going OOP (as you can tell, I didn't know how skyboxes worked).

What was your weirdest assumption about Marble Blast when you were younger?

System.out.println("Hello");

When I was first getting into Marble Blast, I thought that failing to qualify would lock your game and make you buy it again. Not even kidding.
Also, Advanced Level 53.

I assumed that the marble would splash in the lake when it fell out of bounds. This was when I was six years old, mind you.

When I first played Marble Blast (that's when I was like 7?) I thought that if you get to that 'barn' in the MBG skybox, you would unlock something.
So, I tried to get to that barn for like 2 days, and I couldn't make it, so I gave up :P

Thinking the lake and landscape below the levels were actually there, and if you fell far enough, you would get to them. Not sure how long ago it was, but a very long time ago.
I also thought (before I tried it), that the messages in the console (like the start/end or powerup/gem ones) were actually code, and if I typed for example, "State Start", it would restart the level.

SBR was the first mp level i ever played on MBO, so obviously i was thinking the entire time how amazing the level was.

Here's a fun easter egg: using an audio player, open up whoosh.wav from the latest version of MBPU (I forget which version I added it in). Crank the volume waaaaayyyyy up. Wait about 8 seconds.

Oh, might as well mention a weird misconception I had: I once thought Andrew Sears and Matan were the same person. Somehow.

I assumed PQ would be released by now :silly:

(also, ITT: people misunderstanding what a skybox is)

Here, I took out the respawn and recorded this so you can hear it better:

I can't recall making any such strange assumptions, but something I think is relevant is when Matthieu showed me Marble Blast XP he kept talking about how weird it is that the marbles talk, and I was like "but Matt, when you consider that this is a world where marbles are sentient and are able to roll on their own without any force moving them, and they are able to magically make gems vanish by simply bumping into them, talking marbles aren't so far out there, are they?"

The only weird assumption that I can think of is naming .recs World Records without knowing what a world record is. This was back in 2012.

Sorry if this is a little off topic, but what is MBXP?
...Or fubar for that matter?

That website says, "Last Updated: April 30th, 2015."
It needs to be updated, I think.

Marble Blast XP is Hasbro's mod of Marble Blast Gold for use with the Netjet controller. It's not that great, and MBG has everything it has, but it is weird.

Nope, that's pretty accurate. Fubar progress goes slowly.

I also assumed that when you're marble flies to the sky, it will *blink*, just like when Team Rocket in the Pokemon series blasted off, and make a *blink*.
And I also assumed that if you want to do spawn abuse, you have to press the respawn button once you're OOB. :P

That I could actually beat the Gold Times and that the game wasn't hard

.. or that I'd be in this game for 10 years of my life

I assumed I wouldn't beat Ramps Reloaded gold time up until 2014.

Like many others, I thought custom were a category of level higher than advanced, for the really badass guys and that I had to unlock all levels to get him. The deception it was when I finished KOTM and that it was still unlock :p

That I wouldn't play this game for so long and that eventually it would turn into my favourite game.

I am one of those that thought I had to pass everything to get to the level editor and that the console output was actually commands. This was back in roughly 2003-2005

Back in early 2011, I wasn't even sure if I would ever even get all the gold times in MBG, and I would have never predicted that I would get all ultimates.

I've never really assumed anything weird about MB, because I've been watching YouTube since I was playing MB. :D
