This update already started where were you?! and continues up until people are satisfied, and then someone beats a record and everyone gets pissed off so we all agree on discord (#speedrunning) that we're good and no one must beat any more WRs until release. And then Xedron gets one in like 3 seconds.
RULES:
All runs must be done on .rec unless express permission is given.
Runs must be recorded on Vanilla MBG, with the framerate unlocker enabled. You may run with the unlocker disabled.
Screenshot glitching or other forms of lagging your game are BANNED. Minimum FPS is 30 for this reason.
Powerup/Gravity abusable restart glitches are BANNED.
Every other glitch is ALLOWED unless there is widespread agreement in the community. Please discuss before attempting runs using those glitches as they may be banned.
SUBMITTING RECORDS:
- When submitting records, you must submit to THREE decimal places.
--> If you submit to TWO decimal places, then the third one will automatically be assumed as a 9, and be listed as such.
--> If you improve 3rd decimal place, e.g. 1.239 to 1.230, your run MAY be rejected. However doing 1.22X will be accepted.
--> If it is your own improved run on the 3rd decimal place, it will be ACCEPTED.
--> An EXCEPTION is a faster overall time and/or a more entertaining run. Examples: Xelna's scaffold with edge hits, or a level with less time bonus used. You must match or beat the previous time, though.
- Date of recording is required.
- You must submit the way you want to appear in the rampage. Choose one of these three examples:
--> Learning to Roll – 1:23.587 – Matan ‘IsraeliRD’ Weissman
--> Learning to Roll – 1:23.587 – Matan Weissman
--> Learning to Roll – 1:23.587 – IsraeliRD
-> Lack of the above will default to your username only.
Rather than keep in this topic all submitted records, there's a community spreadsheet that is kept at this link (click here yo).
It is expected that Matan and the maintainers of this spreadsheet will ensure that Matan has the latest videos, is kept up to date and nothing is missing.
It is expected of Matan to maintain at least one full copy of the World Record Rampage of the original and/or edited files.
VIDEO RECORDING GUIDELINES:
Unless you have a good reason, you MUST USE Gold's inbuilt recording system (.rec).
If you are given an explicit permission to record a video, you must still record on .rec regardless as your main backup.
You must record using your marble skin. If you don't I'll **** your life. Or ban you. Or something. I'll probably just frown at you a lot.
If you are given permission to record a video, here are the following guidelines:
- Resolution: 1920x1080.
--> 1280x720 or higher is allowed if you can't handle 1920x1080 for whatever reason. You need permission first, don't assume you can.
--> Be aware that we prefer 16:9 resolution, or something close that can be translated to 16:9. Do not use wacky resolution formats.
--> We will aim for the highest resolution at 64fps you can handle first rather than go for 1280x720 immediately.
- Max FPS: 64 fps. 30fps is allowed if you have a good reason (e.g. traplaunches or mine hits).
- FOV: Your choice
- Shadows must be turned off
- 32-bit
- Original MBG audio must be used, no music or sounds of your own
- Volume in your prefs.cs must be set on this:
$pref::Audio::channelVolume1 = "0.200000";
$pref::Audio::channelVolume2 = "0.200000";
- Minimum bitrate: 10,000 kbps. Recommended to be at least 50,000kbps.
- MUST finish with at least 3 seconds of the full end-game screen with your top 5 times.
If .rec is sent, then Matan will record the .rec for you. It will use highest possible settings. Please specify the FOV you want the video to be recorded on if you don't want 90 to be used.
VIDEO RECORDING SOFTWARE:
Please be aware that almost all video recording programs require the same computer performance. Here is a quick list of video recording software:
FRAPS, Bandicam, HyperCam, Screenflow, OBS (free and recommended), ShadowPlay (Nvidia 600 GeForce series and above, recommended).
Note: Some video recording software have watermarks/logos embedded on their videos. Videos submitted with those will be REJECTED.
If recording by yourself, raw video output is preferred. Yes, it will be a few gigabytes in size (assuming a single run was done in that video).
SUBMITTING VIDEOS GUIDELINES:
- .rec is the preferred format.
- AVI is preferred output. DIVX, MP4, MKV, MOV are all compressed formats and are NOT raw video. Their quality is therefore worse by default. See below for further notes on those.
- Send .rec to Matan on Discord via a personal message, or upload video to: Google Drive (15GB free), DropBox (2GB free) or mega.co.nz (50GB on signing up).
Alternatively, send the download link to [email protected] , but please let us know of that, preferrably via a mention/direct message.
SUBMITTING A QUALITY TEST VIDEO:
AVI, MP4, MOV, MKV, DIVX AVI are accepted. If you submit MP4/MOV/DIVX/MKV please make a 10 second test video and send it to me so I can see whether I can re-encode properly. If I can then you can use the settings you have used for all your videos. If you use anything else e.g. MPEG-2, you must pass the quality test.
"matan, now i get what you meant a few years back when you said that "the level in mbg is beyond me" after the last rampage i noticed things were insane, and now i truly feel that too" - Dushine, 2015.
