Made a marble looking thing half following this tutorial, because I use GIMP and some the images were missing. www.fpsbanana.com/tuts/2092

The light on the left top corner is kinda weird, and the edges could use some touching up, but other than that I think it looks nice.

The tutorial that helped me make it was for Photoshop, but I used GIMP to make it.

@Pablo (from 8 days ago ) I used Milkshape to import a .obj exported from CB Model Pro, then exported it from Milkshape.

Made a track with MX vs. ATV Unleashed editor, exported it as a height map and imported it into Milkshape.

I had to cut it into 2 pieces because it used over 10,000 (a little more over 10,000 and MB crashes, at least for me). It also takes long to load and it lowers performance significantly.

If I could make an optimized one, it would be neat in a race gamemode or something.

Meh, it's okay to play on, it needs to be bigger or something to be fun.

So I download Cg Shader(read about it here) with an OpenGL dll from here. It came with some glow/bloom shader, so I tried it out in Marble Blast.

Weeeelllllllll... as you can see, it didn't turn out to well. It made the menu GUI all stretched out and there was no level or shapes. But, it did make a bloomed-up sky, which looked kinda pretty.

Maybe someone could use their magical powers and turn it into something useful? I dunno.

That's cool

Why did it stretch the gui/cut out the level?

Yeah, the sky looks great, but you can't see a thing

Anyways,

...I ripped that.

@ dirt track

Blender has a Poly Reducer script, which removes vertices while keeping the general shape

@ gravity mod

awesome, now those rings can be smoothed out proper

Milkshape has something that removes vertices, but if I remove enough to fit under the poly limit of MarbleBlast it looks really bad.

This OpenGL ripper doesn't seem to do uv maps very well...

I also found out why the levels looked bad when ripped. It was because some parts weren't being ripped because I wan't looking at them.

I don't like the plain white bits on either of them. The one on the right has a much more interesting black texture, but I think it's inappropriate for a mine.

The white spikes are actually textured, but you have to get pretty close to see it, I need to make the detail bigger. And about the second mine, I tried to make the black look kind of like the original.

Any suggestions on how the texture should look like to make it look better?
