BWRR is back and alive! Start your .recs folks!

Hey everyone, Buzz and I talked about this a couple of months ago and just recently decided to put it into action.

What is this?

A world record rampage, just like the MBP and MBG ones. Except the levels will be Buzzmusic's! He has over 90 beautiful landscapes for you all to demolish with your super duper speedrunning skills.

Overlook - READ CAREFULLY IF YOU PLAN TO RECORD

Naturally, by now, all of Buzz's levels have World Records. Unfortunately, Buzz hasn't kept track of the WRs on his levels ( ) and so thus they've become utterly scattered. Some posted only on obscure forum threads, some up front on big threads and rivaled by others` posts, many thrown around YouTube without the runner even realizing they're posting a WR.
The point of this is, I'd like for you all to try your best with the WRs - if you find a level everybody else hates, score a WR easily, and be done with it, when you could improve by 12 seconds, that's not good. There could quite easily be a better time than yours out there somewhere. So please, folks, do the best you can.
This is not to discourage you from posting weaker times earlier on, and then proceeding to optimize a bit later.
On that note I will be accepting the lowest time gotten on each level - even if the WR is known to be better. I will, however, not be a happy Frostfire and may take to the level myself to beat your time, as we're looking for true WRs and not flimsy times that will sit on #1 for the WRR and then be toppled off instantly.

On another subject, the actual collecting of World Records, you will find a list of achieved ones in the post below (by me). I'll talk about that in that post.

About your recordings, you can download any levels that strike your interest from Buzz's Level Topic, which can be found HERE . Don't forget - 8-BIT will not be allowed as it requires a large marble.
As for your marbles, we can't have two runners (or rollers if you want to add some cheesy humor to it) with the same marble! So therefore, my third post on this thread will be for reserving your marbles! First come, first serve, though if you don't post a WR within two weeks of reserving your marble others can take it.

A COUPLE OF THINGS TO NOTE

There is no current Time Frame. The official deadline will come later.

Ctrl-p Restart Glitch is NOT ALLOWED.

(if you find one not listed here ask before recording!)

HOW TO POST A WR

Please use the proper format to post your World Record! All five parts of the format are IMPORTANT and cannot be omitted!

Name: Frostfire (use of full names incorporated will be accepted, such as "Bob 'chicken101' Smith")
Level: Safe Platforms
Time: 10.60

Once you've posted that to this thread, EMAIL the .rec (AND .inf !) to the team. Read below to find out who to send to.

RULES - READ CAREFULLY IF YOU PLAN TO RECORD

There is a simple set of rules you MUST FOLLOW if you want your video in the rampage! I don't care if you get a 1.xx on Buzz's longest level, it will NOT be accepted unless the rules are followed.

Rules on Recording

WINDOWS

- Send your .recs AND .infs (or .avis) to " nihahhat at gmail DOT com ".

MAC

- Send your .recs AND .infs (or .avis) to " programmerjeff95 at gmail DOT com ".

ALL USERS -

- All recordings MUST be .rec or .avi

- MAJOR SUPER IMPORTANT: if recording on .avi , there can be NO WATERMARKS. Period.

- All recordings need to be done in MBP 1.50.

IN GAME OPTIONS

There are a few picky in-game options that need to be set properly, or else the final video will look terribly ugly and distorted. Please make sure these seven options are set at the following before recording:
Screen Resolution: 1024 x 768
Screen Style: Full Screen
Color Depth: 32-Bit
Live Replays: Disabled
Shadows: Disabled
Frame Rate: Hidden
Thousandths: Disabled

Thank you for reading! Happy recording!

P.S. got a question? a problem? ask away!

NOTE: You can also download ALL of Buzz's levels here! Thanks to Regislian for the zip!

Bolded out means there's a WR here, for easy scanning.

Note: If player has two .recs of same level but faster one is bugged, bugged time will be displayed although non-bugged will be mentioned.

Phil's Empire - BLASTEDMARBLE
MATAN'S RED DRAGON - NIHAHHAT

Notes

Sorry, but Ultra marbles aren't allowed, due to the fact that the size seems to be a few pixels larger and therefore could result in advantages.

CustomMarbles are not allowed. .recs don't work with them.

The combinations of Staff's Original and 3D Marble, and Phil's Golf Ball and Golf Ball are because the marbles are too similar. Viewers will not be able to distinguish two separate runners with ease.

I will try to participate in this WRR, but I cannot promise anything. The last time I played MBP my computer blue screened and I had to reset my C disc, which took a while.

Anyway, I want the golden marble. I will start playing when the MBG rampage is done and when the known records are posted.

Ok, awesome guys! We'll most likely be doing .recs (this isn't confirmed yet though, so don't start recording yet :P) and Buzz should probably get me the .zip , or a list of the levels, over the weekend so that we can go from there.

IN REPLY TO TPORTER

Frostfire wrote: About your recordings - I will soon be receiving a few .zips that will make all of Buzz's levels easy to download from here. This will also include all of the levels that will be in the rampage, because one or two levels might be omitted for various reasons. Until then, you can download any levels that strike your interest from Buzz's Level Topic, which can be found HERE .

- All recordings MUST be done OFFLINE in MBP 1.50 RC1. If you are online the leaderboards, or in a previous/different version of the game, please download RC1 in the Downloads section of the site.

Good to see a new community project has started. :) My participation to this rampage is still very questionable as my free time fluctuates greatly. But in case I do participate, I'll take the Spade marble (of course you know that). Some of the levels would be extremely hard to get WR on, good luck guys. :P

Wait, must we record our WRs? Not just .rec them and send them to you?

Yes, I'm sorry about this, the .recs are often faulty and more importantly have issues in RC1. There's much less chance of error using .avis. If you don't have a paid watermark-less software, use bandicam (if you're windows, mac read my original post)

I'd recommend using both MBP RC1 and MBG for .rec files since some of buzz's levels were made for MBG rather than MBP (though playable in both). This will make it easier and I'm sure Kalle29 would love to join in if MBG was to be used.

I'm currently thinking using .avi is much better, is this crazy? I mean, .recs seem to be faulty (sometimes) and the .infs are troublesome with mission files and marble skins. I'd prefer to do .avis ... it seems simpler. Download Bandicam (or a software with no watermark), record your level in .avi, and send it to me via Filedropper.

Kalle29: depending. You might miss out on the Easter Egg and UT showing up, but everything else could be in there. It could be missing textures you only need to import. Depends on the level really.

Frostfire: AVIs are great, but you have two big problems:
- Raw AVI is going to be ~1GB (depending on the level, could be much bigger or much smaller) and not everyone has superduperawesome upload speeds. Most usually don't.
- They will then re-encode it to usually mp4, mov or divx avi, which you then have to re-convert to AVI (I use AviDemux for that, but VirtualDub with mp4 plugin works by doing a New Master File which gives you raw file but it's usually 4x+ bigger than the original mp4/mov/divxavi).
I don't mind either of those two because of the CPU I got and the huge amounts of free disk space I have. Mind you, I only got StewMan submitting Platform Training on AVI and that was 600mbs and took at least a week to get this done. With Xelna we used BitTorrent to transfer files (hence MBG/P were not a problem, but we did .rec because it worked) since we had weeks and months to transfer and our connection was good enough for us to transfer GBs of videos every 3-7 days.

You can provide 1.14 as an alternative since it works as well.

.rec are excellent in MBG, and appear to be somehow borked in 1.50, not sure how (I never played them enough, but on our tests they were okay). They used to work in Beta 1 and must've broken at some point. I suppose HiGuy can redo that at some point (would be nice), but just so you know 1.50 is really bad right now until Final version is out because every patch that goes out changes scripts and enough we have 1 script change and the whole .rec dies.

Kalle, I'd recommend playing all of Buzzmusics levels in MBP, since it is easier and won't have to switch games, I'd say it's preferred atm.

Hold on a moment. I noticed an issue regarding the marbles. I've heard that Buzz has a level called 8-bit, which requires big marble 1. It's not one of the levels I plan to do, but for whoever else is gonna do it needs to switch to BM1 for that level?

Oh dang. I'm very sorry about this. I missed it earlier. Thank you eguy for pointing this out.

8-Bit WILL NOT BE IN THE RAMPAGE. SORRY FOR ANY CONFUSION.

8-Bit can be in the rampage.
Just switch the pngs as needed from Marble Blast Platinum\platinumbeta\data\shapes\balls since that doesn't affect .recs.. Example: rename BigBall1_tex.png as temp.png and then rename skin18.marble.png as BigBall1_tex.png and rename temp.png as skin18.marble.png and viola it works.

Or easiest part is have on .avi only :P

Two problems.

1 - You need to submit the correct form. (and also send the .avi using filedropper)

2 - Underwater is already taken.

Please read my post thoroughly, you would know this if you had.

Would you accept my video of Art of Trapdoors with the audio taken out completely (I assume you have your own soundtrack on top of the videos instead of ingame sounds)?

Same to Momentum. Google allows me to export/download in original upload format.

If yes for both, you know which marble I'm choosing ;)

Indeed! That would be great. Nobody will beat your Art of Trapdoors anyway (though loquendo may try for Momentum :P)

You're still going to have to re-record your Slanted Ascension in raw .avi . I am actually sorry you have to do this, but it's not technically my fault as if you'd read the original rules you would know this.
