Look! Patches!

Thanks to the launcher we have been able to push out updates more frequently. Better said, we pushed out two patches already to RC1 totalling over 50 different fixes and adding a few things. If you haven't done so yet, run the launcher and let it update your game. Biggest change is you can play on Windows XP/8/8.1 and Mac OS X 10.7/8. No support for 10.6.8 or below (Thanks Obama Apple) and no Linux support -- yet! We will do an update in the future to our Linux users.

On a more related note I should update the front page images and stuff. Probably later this week when I'm less busy/lazy and feel more like PQing the server.

I am eagerly awaiting this release - I have about seven or eight candidate players in my place of studies that have been dying to play Marble Blast with us during our lunch break but do not have a viable Linux build ;)

The Linux port of RC1 is almost done. We just need to port the launcher and fix a few minor bugs and it'll be set. I was playing multiplayer with Windows and Mac users today without any problems.

Here are some screenshots:

Marble Blast Platinum 1.50 – Release Candidate 1 – RELEASED!

Go get it people.

On a more serious note, this build has been in the works for the last four and a half months and contains many many improvements and changes over Beta 3. This build is for Windows and Mac only, no Linux support. It contains changes in the engine-level which allow us to fix some serious bugs and crashes as well as enable moving platforms and cross-platforms (Win/Mac) on Multiplayer. Additional security has been implemented to further stop exploits from happening. In addition to these major changes, MBP 1.50 RC1 includes over 50 new items and over 100 fixes.

A few additions and fixes include:
- 490 total SinglePlayer levels (100 MBG, 120 MBP, 60 MBU, 210 Customs) and 35+ Multiplayer levels
- Added back challenges and made way more changes to Super Challenges
- Over 100 achievements
- New replay system (in-game)
- Over 80 different marble skins
- Better Multiplayer Leaderboards
- Lots of options in the options menu
- Not exactly addition or fix but removed 24 easter eggs from MBP levels

The Marble Blast Platinum User Interface (UI) has had an almost complete makeover, save for a few UIs which were fine as-is. The new interface looks and runs better and has many tooltips to help people out. While there is no Manual at this point, it may be added before final release.

MBP 1.50 RC1 is also the first to provide a launcher. This launcher will check your game files against the server. If all is fine, it will launch MBP and you can play normally. Otherwise it will automatically download and install any new patches, meaning you get fixes pushed out to you as they happen. The launcher can also launch MBP in offline mode (no server checking) in case you have no internet connection. In this case, MBP will disable its online mode altogether, thus limiting you to Single-Player offline.

Credits to: HiGuy, Matan and Jeff (Platinum Team devs), amd42 (engine master), Phil (1.20 Dev, 1.50 - some achievement icons/UI), MadMarioSkills (Skies), Seizure22 (PQ codes), Whirligig (radar, name tags), Aayrl (Launcher dev, custom levels hype-ist), RDs.Empire (Ultra Blast & Mega Marble shapes), Lonestar (MP textures), CyberFox (shapes), Buzzmusic (Comforting Mystery & Challenge music), and the community (finding so many bugs and requesting a lot of cool things.)

We hope you will enjoy Marble Blast Platinum, the new and improved Marble Blast experience.

From what I've been told, we have a version that works now for OSX 10.7 and above. For osx 10.6.8 users, we are still trying to fix this issue.

This build is not publicly available yet. It will be out soon.

Because RC1 is not yet compatible for mac os x under 10.9. The staff is working hard to fix this bug soon. This is already posted on the FAQ thread.

#MBP1.50 #RC1 #Hype

I think this image can say much more than anything else. But I’ll still explain. First, feast your eyes:

Marbleland - Ported from PlatinumQuest by IsraeliRD

So what do we see?
1) Marbleland. A PQ level. In MBP.
2) Nametags, now you can tell even better who’s who
3) Radar now has a third mode, which now has the gem icons on the gems themselves, so you can see their location underground and behind other objects.
4) Not really well shown, but improvements to the movement system were made so it's so much smoother.
5) Moving Platforms. Now 100% working even with two or more players. That’s an engine fix, by the way.
And talking about engine fixes…
6) Jeff and I are playing on Windows. HiGuy plays on Mac. I’ll let you do the 1+1 here.

I have to say, hashtags are extremely overused.

But otherwise, I'd have to unquestionably and whole-heartedly agree with my fellow community member Jack Kane here.

Announcing the Launcher

One of the best things of working with people like Aayrl is that when he comes with brilliant ideas for Marble Blast Fubar, we can sponge off of him and make our own. It’s even better when we work together with him afterwards so that two mods can benefit from combined knowledge and hours long programming.

The Platinum Team and Aayrl are pleased to announce a new launcher for Marble Blast Platinum and Fubar. While Fubar’s launcher differs to that of Platinum (and I cannot disclose its contents at this point of writing, but if Aayrl wishes to do so he can), it does have some of the basics that Platinum’s has.

Platinum’s launcher will check your MBP directory (if it exists) and compare it to the server. If it passes the check, it will let you launch MBP, otherwise it will automatically connect and update the necessary files. The biggest advantage is that we can roll out fixes on the go without you having to wait for the next major version.

You will need JAVA 7 installed in order to use the launcher. It works on both Windows and Mac.

Nice idea, but we also need something to replace the Marble Blast Map Exporter. With this program, coding moving platforms was a LOT faster than now.

That's all we need is another thing to do.

Here's an idea guys, how about some of you guys learn how to program so you can pitch in too! :)

The launchers will work offline - it will simply inform you that a connection could not be established, and if a full version of the game is already detected, it will allow you to play the game.

Announcing the MBG WRR #4!

This update is scheduled to begin collection of records immediately and continue up until October 1st, 2014. Any further submissions beyond that will be declined but kept for a future update. This date also gives me three weeks to do all that’s required, but if I get things done quickly, there might be a week’s extension. Please be aware that you should work on it now, because you won’t have time later and the extension is unlikely as of this point in writing.
Powerjohn25: you can submit records as well.

For all information about submitting records, the how why what when where and the different restrictions, please refer to the wall of text that is in this topic.

Happy Marble Blasting to all,
